When i did my engine swap, on my car, I replaced the timing belt and t-belt tensioner and water pump on the engine. As far as the balancing shaft, i just took off the belt and called it a day. the balancer shaft belt is not on the engine anymore, but the shaft still is. Itz been about 10 thousand miles since i did this.

my question, would it be better to take out the actual balancer shaft permanently?
Do i need to take out the timing belt in order to eliminate the balancer shaft?
Can i eliminate the balancer shaft by just taking of the plactic case that is covering it?

i searched for information on this and nothing was similar to what i am asking.

To quickly answer one question before I skoot. There are two balance shafts. One spun by that belt and the other that is turned by a gear inside the engine. That is the one the balance shaft removal kits replace. Even with the belt removed the 2nd one still rotates and is prone to bearing failure due to the speed it spins and age.

Your better off removing it for sure. Often people leave the belt driven shaft in there after the BS removal because it is easier to do so and is just as good..except you don't loose a few pounds on your car. Just removing the belt does eliminate the hazard of it snapping and taking out your Timing Belt.

so do i need to remove my timing belt to install the balancer shaft elimination?
or can i install the balancer shaft elimination kit with the timing belt still on?
