2G Balance shaft may be bad

I’m fairly new to dsm cars and i’m trying to figure out if my balance shaft is the source of my knocking. i’ve checked connecting rod bearings and they’re all fine, the knocking goes away when i pull spark plugs and the knock only happens on start up and at low rpms. How would i know if it’s the balance shaft making these noises?

Good god that is HORRIBLE. Don't run it anymore and start the process of finding such an ugly noise that is definitely not supposed to be there.

Agreed. The quickest way to inspect is drop the oil pan and have a look.
