Did it take out your timing belt as well?

If not, you should be OK.

But now is a good time to do
1. Timing belt, waterpump,
2. Balance shaft eliminator kit

especially since you have to remove the Timingbelt to change the BS belt anyway.

Yea for sure on the timing belt. No elimination kit. Designed w it so Ima leave it Haha. Well now I should have a solid car to mod on.

Be sure t check out the reason the belt broke. Don't want to take a chance on breaking another one. May not be so lucky next time. You really dodged a bullett this time.

I've heard that not having the balance shaft belt hooked up can cause premature wearing of the rear balance shaft bearing. You may have damage to the bearing and maybe that's why it threw the belt. I would seriously think about doing away with them while you're there. Remember that the balance shafts spin at twice engine rpm so at 7k on the engine the shafts are spinning at 14k.:notgood: If the balance shaft belt comes off again it could take out the timing belt and cause chaos in the valvetrain.:(

Digger's telling you right buddy. You got very lucky if you didn't destroy your head.

Yeah I would lose the balance shafts. I had the same thing happen to me a few years ago on my 90 n/t. The balance belt broke when I pulled off from a stop sign so I missed doing any damage. If you really wanted to keep them I would get the Gates belt kit.

A common reason for the balance shaft belt breaking is failure of the balance shaft bearings. Putting on a new super strong belt will only result in the belt breaking with greater force.

Balance shafts are good when the bearings and the belt are good.

At 183,000 miles the balance shaft bearings on my Talon were worn near end of life while the main and rod bearings were like new. I choose to replace the balance shaft bearings. Your mileage may vary.
