I'm nowhere near an expert on front end stuff do I'm looking for some help guys. Here it goes:

2g Eclipse; FWD

So for the passed few weeks my tires have begun to hum, progressively getting worse. I just put new tires and rims on her, figured the new tread was just making some noise. The car is my daily so everyday I've noticed it getting worse and worse. Now it feels like I can "feel" the humming in the steering wheel and gas pedal. If that makes sense. I took it home and jacked it up. Had no idea what to look for but the wheel had play on it when shooken. I noticed already that one tire had wear on it moreso than the other one. In the spring I had the passenger wheel bearing done but cheaped out and only got one done due to lack of funds. I know they say to replace in pairs but bills are king.

Is this just my other bearing taking a crap on me? Hoping for something I can fix on my own. Thanks for any input guys.

It might be but its not too bad to remove, i did and had my shop press me in a new bearing less tha 80 bucks for parts and labor.

Make sure you jack it up by the uni-body welds under the front of the driver/pass door. Grab the wheel by the top and the bottom and push in on the top, while pulling on the bottom simultaneously, and vice versa quickly. If you can feel the play there, most likely the wheel bearing. You can double check the lower ball joint and make sure there's no play, but the humming noise indicates a wheelbearing. While it's up, do the same but left and right just to check and make sure your tierod ends are good. All of these things will cause the tire to wear funny.

Jack it up till the tire is just barely off the ground, grab a real long pry bar or anything thats like 3 feet long and slide it under the center of the tire and then lift the bar up in down in short quick strokes. While doing this, have a light on the upper ball joint and watch for any play. Its easier to have one person lifting up and down on the bar, and another watching the ball joint.

If its a wheel bearing, and most likely driver side since you said the other was recently replaced, you should notice that the humming noise will go away if you make a hard turn at a decent speed to the right, and get louder if you make a hard left turn.

How long after you got the new tires did it start? Where'd you get your tires installed at? And did they do an alignment with the new tires as well? If they did, they should of noticed the wheel bearing then.
