Bad times, will this leak hurt it that bad?

I know I have a leaky throttle body (shaft seals) but will a leaky throttle body cause 17's? My lowest I could grab tonight was a 17.397  I was previously running mid 14's with my setup and boost at 14... This is killing me, I lost to a freaking stock v6 camaro....!!

Enough to make my boost gauge show 4 when really it should be 14....it's an extremely high pitched whistle...I mean loud! I cracked my window when I was about the 1/8th mile (yes I know, big no no) and it was very noticeable. I had a 60' in 2.336 and a reaction time of .189 and wow....17.3seconds...

Do a boost leak check and make sure that is your only leak. If so, sounds like you need to do a compression check and work from there.

i say fix it, go back to the track and theres your answer:)

but to be running 14's and now running 17s... is a bad leak. haha

Since you mentioned the whistle, check you throttle body idle set screw and make sure its there,,,,,mine came out once and did the same thing

I always sprayed some starting fluid in the area of where you think it's leaking at and it would smoothen out the idle, you will be able to pinpoint where a leak is that way too...

I tested last night before track day, it's the only leak. My wastegate arm is connected...LOL It was running fine before I bought this new mustang...maybe it's mad at me for neglecting it again. But seriously. My BISS screw is there, my flapper isn't frozen and such. It has to be the leak, but 10 psi loss and 3 seconds off my time?

boost leak check and leak down test,,,,you'll find the problem. Should be very easy to find a leak that massive. Good luck

I dont know about time but your over working that turbo big time with a leak like that id fix it. or just toss a 1g on there its an upgrade from a 2g anyways

As I posted earlier it is the only leak and I know which one it is. My question was if shaft seals should be causing such a horrible time and low boost. I mean the leak can't be that big can it....Maybe a certain mod who likes to snow board and rebuild throttle bodies could chime in...

Your correct 14psi isnt over working the turbo. ok your boost is set a 14lbs now like you said before your boost gauge says your a 4psi and you believe you should be a 14lbs now thats a diffrence of 10lbs correct? well now your gauge says your at 14lbs but the turbo is really making 24lbs because of the leak do you get what im saying? with that big of leak your making the turbo work alot harder then it needs to to presureize the system. I would fix it if its as bad as you say.

No, as stated earlier my gauge is showing 4 psi when I have it set at 14. sorry for any mis-understanding.

No I have no logging capabilities on this car. Would that effect a boost leak? :|

Ok when you do a boost leak test put about 15-20psi in there and see how long it takes to go down to zero if it takes a few seconds you should be ok. If you cant get that much in the system then you have a huge leak. Im wondering if your pulling timing and geting knock making your car slower. if the boost leak is that bad its possible

I just don't see how shaft seals could do this. I pressurized my system to 15 since the highest I ever go is 14 anyways and it's the only leak I'm sure. It takes a few seconds of constant whistling to return to zero 2-3 maybe.
