Bad Times. Need Help!!

Hi, we just did the timing belt, b-shaft belt, water pump, tensioners, some pulleys/bearings etc. I just took the car for a long waited ( 7 Months !!) tear and came back to find a severe oil leak and a brand new timing belt nicely oil coated. The belt will be fine..but the oil leak isnt.

I think its the engine side case/cover. ( the piece that needs to be removed in order to remove balance shafts if you're doing so.) If it is this ( or is there another common mistake??) Is there anyway to get a new gasket in there without removing the transfer case in an AWD car??

I have 2 days to fix this or i'll be hitchhicking to work. ( I work far away and other car is gone as of today)

Did you take off the front case when you did your belts? What exactly did you take off when you did the belts? I've had my balance shaft blockoff plug pop off before and have similar symptoms, but you didn't eliminate them. Let us know what all you took off.

Also, the only gasket you need to pull the transfer case to get to is the oil pan gasket, everything else can be done without removing it.

Yes, we had the cap off, and put it back on..both times without the correct tool. We were so fed up we left the car ( we JUST did the timing belt, water pump etc etc) Not in the mood to rip it apart again. We will be on sunday though. I started to remove the side cover to remove the balance shafts but once we saw the other BS involved we said screw it and used some RTV to put the cover back on. Iam preying its just the plug. THIS SUCKS I WANT MY CAR BACK!!!

The BS blockoff cap is only there if you did the elimination, otherwise it is the front BS sprocket. Also, you were going to eliminate then and you didn't know there were 2?

this is probably why your front case is leaking, get the gasket from Mitsu for the couple bucks they charge and it should fix it.
