bad idle issue

i just traded 2 weeks ago for my dsm it's a 95 talon tsi awd i got the car with a xs power turbo and manifold and wastegate, which i know are junk but it works for now, guy said it has new 6 bolt engine also, well here are my problems i have a really bad idle issue it either idles at 2,500 rpm or goes from 2,000 to 1,500 up and down like the tps is bad i have searched for vacume leaks and cannot find any anybody have any ideas? also car was pushing 17psi then i moved the boost gauge to different location and now only getting ten and it has the worst boost lag i have ever felt in a car take 6,000rpm to get 10psi, anything will help guys thanks

sounds like a large boost/vacuum leak, your ecu is trying to compensate beacuse its running lean, (it reads off the o2s) thats why your idle is all over the place, or could be your FIAV, but i still think boost/vacuum because when you do start boosting your struggling to hit 10 psi id check your vacuum line to your boost guage or build a leak down tester and check your whole system you would be surprised

^x2 it sounds like a boost/vaccum leak, what are you running for the vaccum system. a distrubition block with correct size fittings might do some good. are you running a catch can? egr? fast idleAV? running vaccum off the throttlebody? some more info would help. the gauge could have a leak in the fitting, line or its self.

it does have vaccume's coming off the throttle body but the one to the wastegate comes off the manifold also to the bov is on the manifold but there is a bunch of plug in's not connected and also i think my alternator has something to do with it because i took it out last night and the lights kept getting dim and the car didnt have any power at all so i let the car cool down and my lights came back up and it felt like it wanted to make some power then the lights went dim again, also the guy i got it from was really dumb he messed up al;ot of stuff i really wish i knew where all the stock pug in's where, also there is no o2 sensor on the car im guessing the guy removed them, oh and i also plugged off the line to the boost gauge just to see if that fixed it and it made no difference

i c, check the big 3(main ground,battery-alt,alt-starter) for wiring and load test the alternator and see what happens. with the lights dimming and everything its sounds like a batt/wiring/alt problem.

sucks you might have got yourself into a full teardown and reassembly of the car other than motor and tranny because of that dudes mistakes.

ya i know i traded my z28 camaro for it and it ran great and was really fast but i have owned another tsi before and i really liked it so i figured i would go back but im thinking i chosethe wrong one but im sure i can get it going

oh and the alternator looks like crap it has had oil blown on it before and the dp is messed up so it blows hot exhaust all over the alternator so that may be the cause of it quiting

Have you replaced the IAC or tried adjusting it with the set screw?

car doesnt even idle now just tries to die every time i start it have to feather throttle to keep it going and have wire off harness by alternator that's not even hooked up it's blue and white
