I am still getting some pretty bad gas mileage.

I am only getting about 19.7 mpg with mostly city driving shifting at 4k.
I have already replaced my front O2 sensor and am looking to replace the fuel filter.

I have a 99gst with about 55k miles on it. Should my fuel filter already be bad?

What else should I check or change? I have NKG plugs and Accel wires are on the way.

Thanks,
Nathan

Seems a *little* low. Although the combination of colder air and winter gas usually will drop MPG a little.

You could always get a new o2 sensor for relatively cheap from one of the mitsu vendors that offers a DSM discount.

i am getting 11mpg...arent stock eclipses suposed to get around 24mpg city driving? i have recently had my cams replaced and my egr valve my still be constantly running. i am not sure. but what could possibly make my car get such horrible gas mileage?any ideas are great thanks

Umm. no you have a N/t hes has a turbo GSX totally different..shify wen you say you replaced your cams.. as in hks cams web etc.. or just stock cams again... what exaclty is on your car.. also its a 92 so I would get new o2 sensors... so what you got exaclty..

I seem to be getting about 12 mpg as well....I used to get better but I can't figure out why my gas milage is so bad. I could use some answers or advice as well

no i put back in stock cams. my friend suggested getting a new 02 seonsor also. there is nothign on my car except the balance shaft is taken out. i think i am going to get new o2 sensors but thanks for the idea! bye

You should also do a little tune up.... I would get some new spark plugs.. wires if yours are kinda old... also I would just use some fuel cleaner in the next tank of gas.. and of course o2 sensors...:thumb:

Replace the o2 sensor, only one of them on 1gs, $40 or so from conecelli, original equipment, deffinetly the anwser to gas mileage.

You know.. i'm having such bad gas mileage.. and the thing is.. i DID have a new o2 sensor put in... and its still shitty.. new ngk's new wires to match.. goot tuneup.. but still.. dont know why it does that..

Hey guys i think something is wrong. I am getting about 140 mpg in my 92 talon Tsi AWD. Something has to be wrong. My brother says one of my injectors is pointed at the ground...LOL. he calls it the 11 mile to the gallon eagle talon. so how much should i be getting?

I think avergae is around 18-20 mpg..I don't really follow that type of thing though...Try changing your O2 sensor and see if it improves....

Have you ever run any type of fuel system cleaner in the car? I used Lucas fuel system cleaner in my car and I picked up a couple miles a gallon. Also, check you air filter. You may also want to check out your ignition system. Do you get any misfires at high rpm?

My last suggestion is to change your gas. Try running BP if there is one in your area. They use additives that clean excess carbon out of your exhaust. This would clean up your O2 sensor and help with the mileage problem.

My oil smells like gas too, and I'm currently getting 12mpg. I don't know what to do, It's pissing me off in the most expensive way.

ur injectors are probably leaking...get em checked...dont let gas get in the oil

40 miles and a qaurter of my tank is gone on my 92 gsx.. that means i'll only get 160 miles on a full tank? Sorry for incredibly newbie question but what do u think could be the cause of this is? And whats the normal mpg for a 1g gsx, because this just doesnt seem right ;[

it could also be your o2 sensor dying.. this topic seems to come up an awful lot though, try using the search.. you'd probably find that most beneficial.

Is that ¼ on the gauge, or really a quarter? Run the tank out until you're down to the bottom ¼ mark at least, and actually measure your mileage. The gas gauges are bizarre, and don't really do much to show what you have in the tank. Reset your tripmeter when you buy gas, and go by that. My Low Fuel lamp comes on at 200 miles, and I have more than a 300-mile range.

When I first got my tsi, I couldn't believe how a full tank of gas would not even give me 180 miles. So I replaced the O2 sensor, fuel filter and put some of that additive for the fuel system treatment along with a full tank of gas. We'll see how things are now in a few days... Hopefully the milage will be a whole lot better.:talon:

Everything depends on how you drive it. If you floor it a lot like me, you will get not that much. But I have driven responsibly sometimes :) and gotten I think near 300 miles to the tank maybe
