1G B&M AFPR fuel pressure

Any suggestions on what fuel pressure to set on my car?

After installing a B&M adj. FPR on it, the motor doesn't idle properly if I turn down the fuel pressure any less than 38 psi, that's with the vacuum hose attached on the FPR. Turning it up to 40 psi @ idle makes it smooth and stable. Injectors are stock 450cc., rewired 205 lph fuel pump and 3/8" fuel lines.

I'm told that 27 psi @ idle is the proper setting but if I turn it down at such, the motor will stall. Am I overlooking something here? What do you suggest I do?

obviously if it stalls it aint the proper setting, right... correct me if im wrong but i think 43psi is the right setting... you say it runs good at 40psi, which probably means it doesnt run rich at that...i read on that lancer that 43psi(sec gen) is the ideal setting if stock fuel pump is used.

yup candela is right. 43 psi @ idle. it will raise up to 60 somthing under boost. (mod - Nope you both wrong for a 1G)

Thanks a lot for the advice! I do find it strange though that after consulting the Chiltons repair manual for 1990-98 eclipse's they stated that on a 1st gen. turbo motor, manual trans. w/ the vacuum hose installed and engine at idle speed, pressure is set at 27psi, while with the hose disconnected, 36-38psi. Re. the 43psi that you're suggesting, is that with the hose connected or disconnected?
