B and M AFPR

That B&M unit is not a true regulator; it's considered a modifier. It is only capable of raising the fuel pressure; not lowering it. The presented problem is that many people opt to install an AFPR after installing a 255 pump because the stock regulator is being overran. Many times the aftermarket adjustable regulator is used to turn the pressure down, back to the stock setting. That is something that this B&M unit is not capable of doing.

I would definitely recommend getting a full AFPR and not this B&M, especially if you are going to use the 255 pump and not the 190 pump.

The stock fpr overrun occurs because the return orifice on the stock fpr is too small to bleed off the extra fuel pumped into the system by a higher flow pump like the 255. The reason the B&M ComendFlo does not solve the overrun is because it's an add on piece to the stock fpr still using the same return orifice instead of replacing the whole unit.
 
I think Import Evolution is still selling a good kit with an Aeromotive AFPR for around $200. Have it on mine, works like a dream... just make sure you put the teflon tape on right. A bit of it is stuck in the aperture, so I have to pull it apart to get that crud out. :b

Any kind of fittings used with a fuel system, are going to be a 37* tapered seat (which is self sealing), or it is going to be an o-ring fitting. I strongly recommend against using pipe thread tape with AN fittings. They are designed so that tape is not nessacery. In many cases, it can do more wrong that right (IE. clogging up fuel system components).
 
That's odd then, as the instructions specifically say to use the teflon tape on all the brass fittings. Which is each of the plugs, as well as the AN fittings that come with it. Bah.

Would you ever consider one that costs more, but is proven to work and fits our cars like a glove? Like the one from Full Throttle Speed.... Or even a nice Aeromotive. That one on eBay just doesnt look very nice.... I'd just hate to see you buy it and go through all the trouble of fitting it to your car, and then having it leak. Sorry. [/opinion]

If you do decide to purchase that one, you will need to figure out how to adapt it to your fuel rail. I've seen adapters sold here and there, but they are all for a #6 AN fitting. So you would also need one of those rail adapters and then you would also need a fitting to adapt 6AN to a barb style fitting so that push-on style hose will work.

If you dont know much about AN fittings and plumbing, then you are better off buying something like a complete bolt-on affair or a something like a DSM specific kit.

Yes, very odd. Who's kit did you buy? Who's instructions are they?
 
I swear I'm going to write a FAQ on this right now. I see like at least 5 threads a week on this thing.
