There is very little right about it either.

He can turn up the boost until he runs out of injector right now. Then raising the fuel pressure will give him some room. But you need to pull fuel out to adjust for the higher pressure, just like you have to when going to larger injectors. Since he running 550s, I'd hope he already has an SAFC.

The downside is the cost vs functionality. Better to invest more into something with some life to it that this deadend part.

Steve

i disagree with this "There is very little right about it either."

i didnt say to boost 2 bar or something crazy if he wants to boost up a little more than 15 say 17-18 and add some fuel for it that fpr will work fine.
yes he does need a afc or something for better control.

B&M dont cost much.
and not a deadend part IMO i still use mine pal.

GPTourer - I live in Pensacola man, we took the WORST of Ivan. I lost my house, my parents didnt have power for 23 days. My brother lost one of his cars and his roof. Most people were without power for the ENTIRE month. The beach is pretty much gone. EVERYTHING was hit VERY VERY HARD. This storm is minimal, but still a tropical storm and we REALLY REALLY dont need another one for a VERY long time.

RSR - You use this B&M FPR now on your Turbo? I may install it. I just want to know, WILL it hurt the car or not? If it will give me a little better performance, i am for that. But if it is AT ALL going to hurt the engine, I am NOT for it. I will still install the guage, but would just like the answer to that question? Thanks.

I do not have a SAFC or anything. The 550's came in the car when I bought it.

yes i use it now.

it will not hurt your car.

you can raise your fuel pressure with it or keep the pressure at the stock setting with it
"or whatever that pump you have is putting out" but not lower than that.

install takes 30min.

No problem, it's ok to disagree. The only thing it does is allow you to raise the fuel pressure.
It retains the stock return port that is the cause of overrun and introduces the chance of leak because of the way it's made.

The point is that unless he's maxed out the injectors you don't need to increase the fuel pressure to boost more. The fuel system without changes will add additional fuel as boost rises. Raising the fuel pressure will just make the car run richer than it already does.

Why do you think you need to add more fuel externally with the regulator over what the ECU will provide to turn up the boost a few more pounds?

I'd suggest that this is a problem since the ECU thinks you have 450s installed and your going to be injecting about 18% more fuel than you should.

Right, I see what you are saying. I need to call the guy I bought it from and ask. he said he was either going to put them in (550's) or already did. i really cant rememeber. i know I should but I dont. Problem is, I bought the car from a guy in Italy and its getting later over there now. Lets assume that the stocks ones are in the car. It is kewl to put the FPR and the guage in there correct? Just want to make sure guys. i know I probably sound like an idiot but the only way I learn is to ask questions. Thanks.

you can install these parts they will not hurt.

you can raise your pressure if need be.
and you can see what your fuel pressure is at with that gauge.

you should get a logger or something to see whats going on with your
setup.

Man I am sorry to hear that. I pray that this season isn't nearly as rough. I don't know how you guys can deal with the stress of basically having an axe hanging over you every year. I didn't lose anything, but our area only had to deal with a few flooded roads, a lot of downed trees and loss of power. It was so weird seeing so many Florida and Lousiana car plates everywhere as soo many "refugees" poured into the area.

You can use them both right now, it is just that you are blindly making a global change to your settings (unless you leave the pressure at the stock level) - so no good can come of it without an S-AFC or logger. I put my FP in first, then my AFC and 660's went in together, and then my AFPR and gauge in last. In retrospect, I should have done them all at the same time because of the issues I had to deal with at idle. However, I got my FP from extreme and they told I didn't need an AFPR, but it did certainly make things work better.

Thts kewl man. i REALLY appreciate all the help. Yeah we do live with an axe ready to come down on us every year between July and Novemeber. But hey, the price you pay to live on the beach eh? Could be worse, I could live in Nebraska or somewhere. (sorry to any huskers out there). I just got an E-mail back from the guy I bought the car from. he DID NTO put in the 550's so I have the stock 450's in the car. Any help there? Thanks guys.

OK....Should I, or should I not install the FPR ? I already found out it will NOT hurt the car, and when I get the SAFC-II it will go hand in hand with it. I found out like I said I have the stock 450 injectors in the car. The guy never got around to putting them in before he shipped the car from Italy to me. Let me know guys. Thanks

yes :thumb:

rsr93 - Thanks bro. All I needed to know. Its kind of a bummer, the guage has not shown up yet. I ordered it on Tuesday morning but it hasnot gotten here yet. Oh well. Next week project I guess. Thanks again rsr. Hey man one more thing. I noticed in the instructions I am going to have to cut the stock regulator. Is that a big deal or not?

~Eddie

Well, my guage finally got here yesterday while I was out of town for work. I will be doing the install hopefully this week, but FOR SURE over the weekend. Thanks for all the help guys. I'll take some pictures and we'll see how it goes.

NO!!!

I already found out it will NOT hurt the car
It will not help either so what's the point?

when I get the SAFC-II it will go hand in hand with it.
You can not tune out overrun with a SAFC.

I think you're only interested in the answer that you wanted to hear. Read the thread again and see how many people had already told you no but you choose to listen to one person with the answer you were hoping to hear in the first place. It's your car and you can do whatever you want with it but I would suggest reading through this FAQ before you proceed.

oldman - Thats kewl. You know the more I DO read the FAQ's and back over this thread, the more I am not going to put the FPR on. I do think I will put the guage on, it cant hurt anything. Besides, it would be nice to know what fuel pressure I am running at. I am NOT going to put the FPR on. I am just going to sell it. I got it for nothing anyway from a guys who orderd fro his car through a company that will remian nameless but is a sponsor of this site, and they said he could put on his. He has the same car I do so we are just hearing all kinds of answers from everyone you know. But I have decided just to put the guage on and THATS IT.

~Eddie

Well thank you. and thanks again for ALL the info and insight guys. REALLY. I ahve not looked yet so this may sound like a REALLY stupid questions but I REALLY dont care. Where is the fuel filter on this bad boy? Like I said, I havent really looked yet because I have been out of town for work or at work. Thanks again. DUUUH....

~Eddie

Got it bro. Thanks man. I am at lunch now I will go check it out. L8R...

Edit: I found it all right. Its like under the tray that the battery sits on. Going to have to take the battery out to get to it. Its down there a little bit. Can you reposition the battery another way?
