Axle seal??? Where exactly does it go?

you helped me with questions about this earlier. Its on / in the tranny. wehre the axle goes into the tranny. that rubber thing. Is it actually all rubber or is it metal as well?

It's hard (not metal). It's the transmission case oil seal (to be exact). Needs to be pried out and driven in carefully.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong on any of this.

Someone may have it available on their website, but I bought it on eBay along with Mitsu shop manual on the CD-ROM. Check eBay.

K got under there just now. Cant get the transfer case seperated from the driveshaft, LOL. came off easy first time but now its a bi***, will pry it off here soon. But I took a pair of needle nose plies and pulled on the axle seal, well this thin rubber piece came off, and there is still the seal actually in the tranny , its metal/rubber and im going to try and pry it out with a screwdriver. Aovsi i thought you said it wasnt metal at all? just really hard, hopefully i ordered the right parts.

What's stopping you from calling Mitsu and asking them in detail, or getting a repair manual?

Did you even look at the diagram I posted?

the seal is rubber but the outer wall and top(part tranny mates to )of the seal is reinforced with metel. I believe it also has a spring around the inner area that hold the seal against the axle. If you tear off the rubber it will expsoe the metel, which is what your probably seeing... use a prybar it surprised me when i took mine out that its not as easy as your typical "seal" to remove.

im currently having the exact same problem you had. hopefully by lack of further responses these numbers were correct for you. would you let me know if they werent? thanks a lot. been trying for 3 days to get the right ones and every time they come in just a little to big, and wont go in.

thanks again,
Jesse
