1G AWD Subwoofer box

What are you 1G AWD guys using for subwoofer boxes? Because of how the gas tank is installed, and the trunk area is stamped out, I can't envision a good sub installation unless going small like a 6.5" or 8" sub. I had a 1G FWD in the past and there was plenty of room for a large heavy box with 2 12" MTX subs and an amp.

I've looked through the handful of threads for subwoofer box installations in the back of 1G AWDs. I've had a FWD in the past many MANY years ago, and miss being able to have a thumping stereo in my ride. Can you guys who have sub installations show some picks of your 1G AWD and the junk in your trunk??

I've thought about finding the largest truck box that will fit a single 6.5", 8", or 10" woofer.

I'm sure you already know it, but just for anyone searching this in the future, the rear/trunk floor of the 1G AWD is different than the 1G FWD. In the 1G AWD there is quite a massive hump in the middle. So any kind of sub is gonna have to be a simple single box stuffed in the corners, or a custom unit molded around it. I've seen both done. Honestly...if it's stupid and it works...it ain't stupid. Just get either a single box for either side and secure them tightly down, or get one of the low profile "under the seat" subs and do the same thing.


Personally, I'd rather just a good stereo with a solid/quality set of 6x9's. I don't need all that bass.

I ran a 10" jl in the back pass corner of the trunk with the spare and all panels in. It was a custom box shaped around the spare. 6x9 put out no bass in a dsm.... wish they did, not enough air space behind them and the angle is weird.

I ran 2 12 inch memphis mojo in the talon 12 years ago. Right now I am running a B2 audio Rage 12 inch sub. Use the back seat area to put a box and have the subs firing at a angle toward the glass hatch. Use the hatch area and build a floor to cover the bump back there. Drill holes and run the wire through for a distribution block and going to amps. it's makes it look really nice.
Here are pics that shows the floor I am talking about, You sit part of the box back ontop of the floor you built , that gives it the angel toward the glass hatch and it also hides the opening. The talon isn't being driving and fixing up from sitting for 10 years so it's not in use. I can't wait to build a box and put 2 12 of these rage in the talon .

When I start driving the talon here is the box that is gping In it. It is 4.5 cubic feet after displacement of Port & sub

Yes getting the boxes in are a PITA and sometimes require the seat to be removed
