My first subwoofer box for 12" Infinity

Not sure what I hope to accomplish by showing this off, but why the heck not eh? I couldn't use the standard 12" box from my GST, because it was 13" tall, and the GSX drunk is alot shorter in height/depth. So I had to design my own, didn't seem to hard in concept, I am good at math, and if all i needed was a 1 square foot space, I got the math figured out, made a trip to home depot, and by the next morning, I had a new box.

Here are the pics, if you have any questions, feel free to ask, but it was pretty striaight foward. Only difference, if the box was 20 inches wide instead of 19 as I calculated with math, becuse I had to account for the thickness of the wood, 1/2 MDF.

and btw, the box had to be 11 inches tall max if i wanted it to fit under the trunk cover thing. 11 inches fit perfectly int h 2gb GSX, which is also why it was slanted, and the reason I made this box liek i did. and remeber, it is 20 inches wide, not 19 like it says in my notes below.

nice box design. I made one myself with 3/4" MDF for my two 12" kickers. Your carpet job came out good I messed up a little on mine

Not bad at all for a first box. Only thing I would have done differently is recessed the speaker so its not out there. Final product looks good.

Watch out with the caulk, some claim that it actually decays the speaker surrounds over time.

From what I heard, the caulk has to dry at least 24 hours before putting in the subwoofer, or otherwise you risk damaging the subwoofer

Good job with building the box but I dont know about the ugly grey speaker carpet though. I would've done something in a nice grey microsuede. I'll be posting thread about my suede headliner and subwoofer enclosure shortly btw..

Very nice, i'm hoping to build a fiberglass enclosure with an MDF face on it to put one sub in the left or right quarter panel and then mount the amp flush in some MDF housing with clear plexi over it in eh other quarter area. I'm hoping to regain a usable amount of trunk space and have a clean install at the same time. I swore some one made a box like this for our cars, but no one at the stereo shop can find any info on ordering one.

JL does a molded 12 inch box for our cars, PM moduelunknown for info, he got his off ebay for 300 bucks, with the sub. Looks pretty clean, I just saw it yesterday.


as for the caulk, I let it dry over night, inside a warm house. I gave it 12 hours and couldn't wait any longer I read the same thing, but eeveryone just wanted to hear the damn thing, so I finished it up and let it go boom boom.
