Hey, I have a 12 inch alpine type R I pulled from my honda and im really bored, so im wondering if it can be wired up to the Infinity stereo system that came stock with the car. Should just be a matter of wiring into the rear speakers shouldnt it? Ideas? Pics? Thoughts?

What type of inputs does your amp have? If it has high input and rca then you are fine just use the rear speaker wires and wire it into the high, if not you will have to get a converter to convert it to rca signal

Yeah im off to buy some RCA converters right now, what do you suggest I do for the amp turn on lead wire?

Nono, what wire can I connect it to so that the amp will turn on? ANY wire with signal flowing right?

You want to wire it to some type of ignition wire, from the fuse box or something like that so it won't stay on when the car is off. Don't forget you still need a nice sized power wire and ground, no wimpy 16 gauge or anything.

Yeah I know, I pulled this out of my honda, wiring kit and all, but on my honda deck I had a specific wire for the amp lead, on this deck I dont.

Thats why the other guy said wire it into the fusebox and I said either do it there or to an ignition wire.

Well, I discovered something about my stereo system. Its 15 times more complicated than anything ive ever seen. I cant wait to rip that ENTIRE system out and wire it myself with new stuff.

Personally i think i would try to hook the Remote Wire (Turn on Wire) to the stock amp. I haven't had time to look the amp up and down but there has to be a wire turning your stock amp ON. That would make it much easier than wiring up an RCA converter. Just my 2 cents. (Only Applicable to the stock INFINITY system)

ok pull out your headunit (deck) then unplug the harness leading to it then take a test light and check all of the prongs for juice there should only be 2 with the key on then take the key out and check the 2 prongs for power again whichever prong has power with the key on and no power with the key off is swithched 12 volt and that is what the amp power lead should be hooked to just find the wire that leads to that prong and splice it do not hook it to some thing with consant power or the car battery will have a constant load which could kill your battery over long periods of time with the car off

for the audio signal go to a local car audio place and get a high low converter it takes the stock signal and converts into 1 the amp can read hope that helps

**REVIVAL**

So someone broke into my car and stole my stereo and amp/sub. Ripped up my center console. I hate apartments!

Anyways, it worked out because it motivated me to get a black dash/center console..
I also got a stock infinity head unit and all the speakers.

Now I dont know if anyone was actually successfull in doing this since the thread ended with no conclusion. But I still have all my amp wires ran, so I can just find a remote wire off the stock amp or head unit or where ever and the amp will have power, now as far as the rca outputs, whats the deal?
Do you tap into the rear speakers and do something to convert the output? Or can you tap into somewhere from the head unit?

If you are still runing the sock infinity system you have to tap in to the wires on the amp that is located under the passenger seat. I dont rember which wires any more you will have to pick up a wire diagram for the amp.

Edit: If you dont have the amp then the head unit will not work for a direct wire it does not have enough out put amps to run a system. You will have to put RCA converters on it and get an amp to run you speakers.

No, sorry, I have the amp as well, which I can find a remote source for power to turn the aftermarket amp on with the stock infinity amp. However how would I go about getting a rca output source from the stock system for the AM amp to run an AM sub with the stock infinity system (head/amp)?

they sell high-low converters that will give you rca connections, but if your sub amp has high level input you can tap them to the rear speakers for a closer connection, you dont have to tap it under the seat amp, but you can do that as stated. the rear speaker wires i believe (but you should double check) are yellow/red and gray/red for passenger side rear speaker, and driver side is yellow/blue and gray/blue.... BUT if you tap into the wire harness of the stock amp, be aware that those colors are the SAME for the wires leading to the dash speakers.

So, where do you get these hi/low converters, and where do you plug them in?

Not sure on what the amp will have as I dont have one right now due to mine being stolen. But I liked my old setup (rockford 300 mono, JL W3 V3), sounded perfect for the small space, hit hard but was not too much to where if you were next to me yo would be shaking your head. I might run a W8, or a W7.

But either way, the amp wires are all ran still, they just unplugged the amp and took it. All I would have to do is grab a remote to turn the amp on since it has a power and ground still, I will jut need some source of sound. I am no stereo guru, so I get lost after that, should be an output source of low end? But there is no RCA outputs like an aftermarket head unit. Where exactly would you tap in? The converters make a givin wire a RCA output?? You just get them at any stereo store I assume.
