Autometer LED bulb replacement... PICS!

What kind of current do these leds draw?

Did you guys put resistors on the cluster, or will it be fine to hook them up to a 12v source?

Also, does anyone know where a good guide on putting in a boost guage is?

^^^
Not sure about the current draw, but the LED Cluster can only be installed 1 way for some reason or another.
Here is a link I found.
I used a different link, but I can't find it right now.

I dont know about the LED's made for the gauge cluster. But if they are the same as the ones I used. They already have the resistors they need in the bulb housing itself. So its plug and play right to a 12v source.

OK thanks, it wasn't really a big deal any way cause I have a ton of resistors laying around.

Do you guys hook the lights up to the the dash circuit so that they can be dimmed down, or just a straight 12v source?

Ok, I just ordered 3 Autometer Phantom gauges and I am not sure which 6LED bulbs to order. On this page: http://www.superbrightleds.com/1157.htm there are two different 6LED bulbs.

WLED-6 wedge base 194 type bulbs or the T13 6-LED bulbs? I don't feel like modifying the gauges any, and the 9LED pics posted seem a little bright for my taste. Now I just need to know which 6LED bulbs to order. Any help would be appreciated

any of the 194 wedge types will fit the socket, it is just a matter of how much modifying you will have to do in order to get the whole assembly to fit in there.

wait until you get the gauges so you can measure, then order the 6 bulb leds if you find that the space is larger than the bulb's dimensions.

I have ultralites... Boost, Water Temp, Oil Pressure.....
I used these same lights WLED-6 wedge base 194 type bulbs.
The only thing is when you put the bulb back in the socket on the boost gauge,
it hits the armature or something inside of the gauge that will break the gauge if you're not careful.
I just put the socket in the gauge, but didn't twist it....
Perhaps you'll have better luck...

i believe it was mentioned something about that somewhere earlier in the thread. If you havent read the whole thing, you might find the answer in there. I may be wrong but I could swear someone mentioned something about that on the phantoms; they are the subject of this thread after all.

i have an autometer ultralite boost guage that boosts to 20 psi, can somebody tell me exactly what bulb to use without having to modify the gauge and still get it bright as hell!! those look so damn cool

Here man, these are different than the ones I bought.
Either they sent me the wrong items, or I purchased the wrong item.
You want the WLED 6....
Here is a word doc that I made to show you what you want....
I'm gonna buy these too, cuz the length is substantially shorter than the bulbs that I currently have.

thanks dude, i'm going to buy a few of these, gonna get the uv blacklight one! i'll let ya guys know soonas i get it how it looks, hows the install on these pretty easy?

Install is extremely easy, just pull out the not so bright stock lights that came with your ultralites, and plug those in.
I think that model bulb is not polarized, so it won't matter how you plug it into the socket.
Those a significantly shorter than the ones I bought, so locking the socket into the back of the gauge should work as intended....
Let us know.....

Those are the ones my brother bought. And yes they plug right in with no modification and have no clearance issues. :thumb:

post up a pic of those uv blacklight ones when ya get them in, i wanna see how they look before i go that route!!!!

yea that would be interesting to see, though uv blacklight is one of the darkest colors of the visible spectrum that you could possibly buy in a bulb so i hope it doesn't turn into a "downgrade" in terms of brightness.

Ok here's my pics. I used the 6LED bulbs, perfect brightness if you ask me. It was still somewhat light outside, and all the lights in the parking lot were on, so in pitch black it's slightly brighter. Also I'll throw in the rest of my night interior shots as well.
