Autometer EGT? Whats your opinion?

as far as i know the gauge itself is fine. THe probe is what causes the problem, they are not the best quality and are needed to be replaced quite often. I know there is a recommended probe, but i cant think of the name off the top of my head. Maybe someone will be able to help me out with the brand of the probe.

On a side note, I went threw 3 Autometer probes. They last about 6 months then my gauges needle would start to flutter and I'd need a need probe. The gauge is good other then it only goes to 1600 but the probes do SUCK.

Ya get one that goes above 1600.. I've maxed my Autometer a couple times at WOT...

There are two different types of Autometer EGT gauges. On one of them the probe goes directly to gauge(this one reads slow). On the other one the probe goes to a small black box, and then wires go from the box to the actual gauge. I have the autometer EGT gauge with the small black box and the gauge responds very quick.

So my advice to you is if you get an autometer EGT gauge try and find the one that comes with the small black box.

Someone correct me if I am wrong.

Ease,

I think that one with the black box is for a dual probe setup.

I saw them at my local speed shop, its a kit with 2 probes, an small black box and a Exhast temp gauge.

Not sure how that works though.

My Isspro one has a black box, and it's just an electronic sending unit. The probe plugs into it, and then wires run from the box to the gauge. And the power wires go to the box too, not to the gauge itself.
