Need Help Quick cars been off road for 6months cuz of the water pump, but I went a lil crazy. Hoping to get it in next week!!

Pic1. Is a better showing of the cam gears and cams.
Pic2. Do I really need to hook this back up, my freind says he gets more gains w/o the knock sensor plugged in.
Pic3. If I pulled my A/C do i really need this thing?

And one last Question, does the cam angle sensor have to be mounted a certain way? or just level?

THanks Josh

First of all, in the first picture, is that white mark the oil pump timing knotch? If so, your timing is off. Second of all, the pictures are not clear enough and I can't even see the timing marks on those cam gears...

Yes, that sensor on the back of your intake manifold support is not your knock sensor for one, it's your tach sensor (I can't remember the exact name of it). Your friend is a moron for not tuning with a knock sensor; all he is doing is ignoring the signals your car is sending saying that there is detonation occuring. Whole topic in its self.

No, get rid of it.

No, just line up the CAS notches and your cam notches. Just make sure you adjust your base timing correctly after.

timing looks good.white mark on the oil pump dont matter as you have taken out the shafts.and your friend is a retard.the knock sensor removed will get more power, just because the timing isnt being pulled when it knocks, and that will destroy your engine.

Looking at the picture again, I think that the oil pump timing mark is close, but not right on. Whether you have the shaft in there or not, you may as well get it dead on, just to make sure.

If you remove your ac, and I do believe your car has a 2 piece front driverside axle. The AC pump mount acts as a shim for this, you will need to put some washers on the bolts that hold the axle to engine block. If you dont you will spend an hour or so wondering why they dont mount right. Just a heads up :)

And no, you dont need that small bracket or the pully, or anything ac related. I removed all of my lines, the front condensor(which leaves you mad amount of room up front).

Just dont forgot to shim the half shaft mount or you will kick yourself <<final warning.

Good luck on the install :thumb:

Oh...and for the oil pump sproket...what was removed?  Might wanna check those marks to be safe.

Thanks for the replies, Ya my camera takes really shitty pics sorry bout that, ya the balance shafts were removed, so the oil pump sprocket doesn't need to be lined up. This is my first time pulling a motor and doing the work my self, the head was done by a good machine shop, has revised lifters, stainless valves, titanium springs and retainers, cams, and new exhaust manifold studs. Didn't really touch the bottom end. So when I put it in and start it, how do you adjust the timing from there? I know on my freinds car (turbo coupe) he has a timing gun and he goes from there. Is it the same?
