automatic trany swap to 5 spd

help i need a list of parts to swap my 4g63 a/t over to a 5 spd i need a compleat parts list(im looking for oem) also a price estimate is nice i can get ahold of a 5s trany but just the trany wich it needs syncros. so if anybody can give me a list of parts i need this list asap as my a/t wont engage o/d and is slipping baddly plus it is in lockout from 1st

nope, and when you get a 4g63 flywheel theres also four wheel drive and front wheel drive ones so watch out for that

I just finished getting all of my parts. It ran me about $1500 everything is OEM and brand new. Aside from the ACT clutch Fidanza flywheel and avid racing mounts.. Grand total $1500

?!?!?! im tryn to do this on a buget like i said i found a guy whos selling me a trany for 50 dollers it just need syncros so minus that what would your total be and im looking desperatly for a fly weel i might of found 1 but i dnt know if 2 or 4 w drive yet

also do i need to get a m/t ecu??

This is exactly why newbie posting is restricted. You didn't even try to spell correctly, you didn't search at all, and I had to read your sentence three times to figure out what you were even trying to say. People will get on you about this all day, it's just how it is if you want help you have to make your posts legible.

Now onto your questions. You won't need a manual ecu, the ecu's are the same. Auto transmissions are controlled by the tcu. A 50 dollar transmission isn't budget, its busted. Depending on how many hard parts need replaced you are looking at around 8-1500 right there. Gathering the parts is the hardest part. If you are trying to do this overnight you will spend a ton of money. If you wait and gather parts you should be able to do it for 1500-2000 with a good used transmission.

ok 1 my spelling well lets just say thats somthing hereditary in my family so oh well...(btw dont judge me please i hate that ) but the guy im getting the tranny off of says it just needs new syncros in it i dont mind fixing the gears and all that stuff i will at least have the tranny itself to play with in the meantime

I think he means have you ever rebuilt a transmission before they are a bit of a pain...but there is always a first time, i guess!You might want to check price and availability on parts before you start!

Have your auto rebuilt and be done with it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! you will have a new trans and will come out cheaper than doing a (used) 5spd swap.

a auto trans is good to have done and built up as it is harder to break drivetrain parts from the instant shock of a clutch launch, since on a auto its preloaded and ready when you launch.

You can preload with a manual, too. Plus with launch-control, that helps as well.

If you relay want to do this swap, the best way could be to find a donor car, hell i just picked up a 95 tsi W/O title for 150, but those deals don't come around every day!

tru i know the advantages of auto to 5spd on the trak. auto has no boost lag after launch but it wont hit your powerband as much as a 5spd would (unless u flat shift (the big factor is autos for older cars arenot as efficent as a manual wich is why a 5spd has more tork and power ((if you can shift right ))pluse the gas savings

So you're telling me out of a 5 speed car and an automatic car with the same exact mods the 5 speed has more torque because it doesn't have an automatic transmission?

Not to be rude but buddy do you know anything about transmissions or transmissions for the car you specifically drive? This is around the time that using stators in the torque converter became popular. We have Stators in our autmatic transmission. What does this mean? That instead of losing the 10% you loose almost no horsepower from the transfer the power from the flex plate to torque converter. You would be better off just rebuilding the transmission. It is personal prefrence but make sure you are well informed about both types of transmissions before making a large investment, Just trying to help.

I did this 5 speed swap on my buddys 97 Eclipse GST. There was nothing wrong with the auto transmission he just wanted a 5 speed. we picked up all the parts to do the conversion for $400 which I though it was a very good deal cause everything I need it to do the swap was there.

what i meant by the torq was that a 5 spd will hit power band range more but i have changed my mind for now ima keep it a automatic but i plan to put in a lighter flyweel and a stall converter with a shift kit ??(sound good?)

To be honest the flexplate is pretty light as it is you might loose a pound but nothing noticable. Just start with the basic mods and get a idea on what power you want while doing the simple ones like a boost gauge etc. that way you dont have to buy everything twice because you decided you wanted to go a diffrent route. i have aftermarket (boostgauge, oil p, and coolant temp) i push a stock 15psi only intake and 2.5 exaust
but i have a few prolems when we hooked up the modis?nt shur if spelld right? scanner it threw out a few codes

p0303 - miss 3rd cylinder
p1500 - generator circut problem
(pending)- p1750 - tranny celinoid pac falt 86/52/54/53 in that order (86 and 54 tave tests but my battery died on us)test function with the modis
p0170 - fuel trim malfunction bank 1

also we did put on new plugs and wires 4 days befor this happend so i know its not thoes 2 for the misfire (i didnt mean to steal my own thread )
