I was thinking about buying an auto 6 bolt, I know all engines can walk. I have never had a 6 bolt walk yet, has anyone ever heard of a 6 bolt auto walking? Or for that matter any auto walking/ Thanks.

Be careful what you are getting into with an auto. That is the only motor I have seen (stock) that threw a ROD!, and know of others with big problems. Besides the few that run them hardcore, there are lots and lots of differences in the cams, ECU, turbo, etc. They really aren't worth having unless you want it to drive to work. They take alot more mods to be as fast as a manual. :D

There is nothing wrong with an Auto, I have a nice built IPT auto trans. You can make them just as fast as a manual for the same amount of money and time. They are worth having for drag since it would be very consistant and even if you want it for a DD.

I had a 1G Auto TSi AWD for many years and I could launch with full boost! Let's see a 5 speed do that! Auto 1G's are slower in stock trim but when modded can be as fast or faster than a manual.

BullS*** It does not take more mods to be faster or quicker in a 1g auto stock VS stock..

BullS***.Stock Vs stock auto or manual, they will both keep up to eachother pretty well..I have kept right up to 5spd dsm's stock, and even passed a few..Now that I'm modded, I'd like to see what happens now..LOL..

There is nothing wrong with 1g auto..Smaller cams for more low end, 13g turbo that will spool at 1500-2k rpm..More fuel pressure with smaller injectors..Plus the manuals loose boost pressure going through gears..Also with the auto there is less chance of breaking axles and such launching, bucause the suspension is already preloaded..
But you do loose 20% or so all wheel hp because the auto tranny soaks up some of your power..

Pro's of manual- 5 gears, more gas milage..More fun to drive..

Your question I forgot to answer...You will get less crankwalk with a 6 bolt auto..The crank walk issue, it mostly on manual cars, because of you having to push in the clutch..

The 13g spools quick but has no top end at all. I guarantee a stock for stock a 5 speed 1g will be faster. There's so many differences that make the stock automatic pretty mild. 5 speeds have bigger injectors, more aggressive cams, larger turbo, differently tuned ECU. That being said, swap out all that stuff and the Auto comes alive! Mine would leave the line on full boost and held it all the way down the track.

True true.. The 13g does suck pretty bad at higher rpm..The ecu's are tuned the same.1g's had a pretty aggressive tune. The only difference(I'm pretty sure) is that the auto ecu retards timing when brake boosting..

Now like you said when you swap in the manual ecu, fpr, injectors, yeah then your definatly ready to roll anytime with the 5spds..

If you swap everything but the ecu, the car runs really rich..Horrible gas milage..But as soon as the ecu is swapped, your ready to go...

Launching with an auto at 20 psi is really sweet..Your not going to be able to do that on a 13g, after what 14 psi or something the 13g is just blowing hot air..

I don't think you'll have to worry much about your 6 bolt 'walking' on you. Yes, I suppose it's possible but not probable. And I highly recommend you look up IPT for your auto tranny needs.
