How does the bushing go into the crank? Should it be the step side out or the step side in the crank? and the flexplate thing that connects the crank to the TQ, how does that go on, I forgot how it was on my 7 bolt. Do I need to take the dowel pin thing out of the back of the crank? (was a manual trans motor)

The stepped side of the bushing should be towards the motor. The flexplate should set so that the ears are closer to the tranny. If you put it on backwards, you are basically negating the extra space that you need for clearance.

I am interested to see if everything works out for you. I also did the swap, and had the car running, but am getting a grinding noise upon starting. I tore it back down, and haven't gotten to get back into yet... hopefully soon!

which way are you doing the swap? with the 1/4" spacer or with out and doing a three eared flex plate?

if without the 1/4' spacer then the step that you are talking about is it the one on the inside out the outside of the pilot bushing? if on the inside you have to have that removed because it will jam the TC into the trans pump. if its the outside then listen to the previous post he is correct.

I just finished the swap and everything is cool except I have a couple of issues with the trans and shifting into 3rd and 4th I think they messed up when rebuilding the trans. but not sure. let me know how everything turns out.

other poster side you check the clearance of the starter and the ring gear on the TC I had a similar problem and the starter was hitting the ring gear after the trans was already started. just a thought.
