I just recently got done swapping my car to all wheel drive. I am having problems with the transmission shifting while in boost. Driving around normal the transmission shifts fine and the car drives fine. As soon as i drop te hammer it downshifts fine and slips halfway through a pull or when the transmission tries to upshift. Im pretty sure my shift linkage is setup correctly. I an also having problems reading the dipstick. I put 5 total quarts of fluid i the trans when i was finished with the swap, and the dipstick was reading way overfull. I drained the trans and only put 2 quarts in, and it was still overfull. I put a fwd auto pan on it, and it has a splash shield on it and my awd one didnt. I didnt use the awd pan because it was damaged. Any help approciated.

Is that in every gear or just 3rd and 4th? If it is, it could be the end clutch which is probably the weakest of the clutch packs. That one can be changed with the transmission in the car. Other than that, did you swap out the AWD TCU with the trans? That might be an issue. I would see if the TCU is throwing any codes as well, just to make sure all your sensors are working correctly. Thats probably the easiest aside from assuring your filter and fluid is clean and at the right level.

Checking the fluid in park warmed up. I did not change the tcu, i have one from an awd here though i can try. Its seems to happen in every gear when i get on it. How do i check codes at the tcu?

You MUST check the fluid in neutral or It will read Way overfull like you say.

My trans was like yours when i got my car, only 2.5 qts in it ### the previous owner checked it in park which then burned up my end clutches (O.D.). Hope you haven't burned up any of your clutches or steels

Update. Filled the trans to the correct level. Started driving the car more. Its only slipping from second to third amd third to fourth only when im dropping the hammer, normal driving is ok. Andd, one of my torque converter bolts snapped clean off. So now i only have 3 bolts holding the converter on the flexplate.

You using ATF+4, or SPII fluids in that Mitsu tranny?

If you're shoving DEXTRON in there, you can kiss that tranny goodbye..

I put valvoline maxlife atf in it. I work at goodyear and thats what we put in almost every vehicle with no issues. I read on the paperwork we have that it is compatible with dsm trans.
