Now a new problem arises after everything is back together...kind of the same issue I had with my previous tranny.

This is a different tranny and the only thing I REUSED was my torque converter...which makes me think this is a torque converter issue, but I am not 100% sure.

When I drive, the car doesnt have any power...when I first started driving, I heard a grinding noise, like if you have bad bearings in something and it makes that grinding type of noise. Anyways the noise came from around the middle / passenger side. I went back home and checked fluid...it was fine and full. But there is a leak from right between the tranny and block, which I can only assume in the torque converter because I replaced the converter seal in the bellhousing.

The previous owner had toasted the original tranny...the fluid was burnt and I took the clutch packs out and all the discs were bare metal. The fluid had glittery specks in it so I can say there was clutch material all in the fluid for sure.

So I guess what I am trying to see is what do you think my issue is here? No power at all under acceleration, that grinding noise (it stopped after about 10-15 seconds), ALSO it now leaks tranny fluid out of the torque converter...noticed the fluid between the block and tranny leaking out.

Tought it was three clicks and the TC should be in where you got a half inch from the back of the TC to the facing edge of the bell housing to be seated correctly in the drive gear of the oil pump.

Bet the pilot bushing took a crap as well ...

My guess would be that your torque converter did not get splined all the way onto the input shaft.

This would result in a broken pump and the transmission would do nothing at all. The first 2 clicks are the input shaft and stator. The pump is the very last click.

The issue ended up being the torque converter. I had it seated properly, all the way in 3 clicks and everything was bolted up fine. The converter was locked up...got a rebuilt one from a local shop and it made all the difference in the world.

So i guess the advice for anyone else with the same issue...dont reuse the old torque converter when putting in a new tranny. Or else youll be pulling the transmission a million times like me.

I am having a similar issue but the car wont move at all unless revved high. Then it bangs into gear. Grinding noise all the time

I know this is old.....sorry
