Auto spooler for turbo?

Has anyone heard of an automatic/electric spooler for cars w/ turbos? A guy in my town has one on his WRX sti. Any info. would be useful, thanks.

Are you talking about an antilag system?

Basically between shifts the car dumps a lot of fuel which is blown out of the exhaust into the turbine housing and downpipe where it ignites there. The extra explosion helps keep the turbo spooled between shifts. It's basically used for rally racing since antilag systems are very harsh on turbine wheels.

He has an "electric spooler" on his STI turbo? I think not.

What he does have is a 2.5L with a turbo capable of making low 300's stock that spools like whoa.

Also, anti-lag pulls timing to move the combustion event into the exhaust stroke, igniting the fuel as it leaves the chamber. I'm adding 5% fuel, pulling 25deg of timing, and on a 6k 2step to launch, it makes a little boost

I think he is talking about an actual electric fan thingy that goes before the compressor wheel. The rest of the guys at my shop went out to seema and they said it shoots a burst of air into the compressor, making a little boost and spooling the turbo quicker. In otherwords, its like one of those tornado things with an electric motor
