I have a 92 AWD Talon and it seems that my tranny is stuck in 3rd gear showing limp mode, soon as I fire it up, it revs to up 2k rpms, pulled my TCU, and see no problems on it, can these be bad without showing signs of a leaky cap, it didn't stink either? I checked the solenoids on top of the tranny and they are hooked up correct as well, the guy I got it from said it had a rebuilt tranny.

Any ideas?

To answer your question yes it is possible for your TCU to be bad without a bad smell and/or looking at a leaking cap although usually when they are bad that is how you can easily identify if they are. A chip internally could be fried or something. Did you check your ECU??? My ecu failed without bad smells, or leaking caps. So If you can get your hands on a used one try it. Is your knock sensor new? How old is it?? That can be sending faulty signals

Just checked my TCU codes, and got a code 11 and a code 24 from it. I don't know what an improperly adjusted accelerator switch is tho. Is that just something to do with the TPS?

Could/would a messed up TPS cause limp mode though?

What were your symptoms when your ECU went out?
