My engine arrived today after a 2,000 mile trip across the country. Luckily it was still in one piece after the journey. There was some miscommunication with the shipper but everything was straightened out and I was able to bring it home. Once I got it to my house I got it up on the hoist and unwrapped. After that, I mounted it to the stand and lowered everything the ground. I pulled off the manifolds, mounts, turbo, throttle body, thermostat housing, fuel rail, and injectors. Basically I removed everything except the head and timing components. That will be for tomorrow. All in all not bad for about 2 hours of work, including unpacking and mounting it on the stand.

Here it is on the hoist, still attached to the pallet

Some nasty corrosion on the throttle body. It's been sitting in a garage for the last 5 years but still I've never seen anything like this except on a battery. Has anyone seen this on a throttle body before?

Hopefully 2 to 3 months tops. I'm getting it down to just the block and thats going to Luna. Then put it all back together and drop it in. When do you get back?

I leave here the first week of April :) So I should be home about 3-4 weeks... Thats good Sergio is a good guy from what I know. I'm going to have him help me out with my car. Still need to get some cash though. That 20g is just sitting there. All I need is pretty much fuel upgrades and all the misc stuff, got link already too. Dont know how to tune though. Have you gone to any of those DSM meets I have heard about??? Well glad to know your motor made it safely. Take care

Awesome! We will have to get together when you get back. I have never tuned either but v3 lite is on my list once I get the swap finished so I will need to learn too. I have not been to any meets but I did go to the media day at Luna Performance's new location. I talked to Serg and Ray and I'm dropping my engine off with them on Monday so then can check it out and see what exactly went wrong when I last had it in 5 years ago.

Nice! bet you cant wait to get that bad boy stuffed in...
as far as the corrosion goes, that actually looks like the same type you would get on your battery terminals, maby got some lead on the aluminum and that spawned that nastyness, should just scrub right off though. thats why i hate the placement of the battery, going to move mine to the trunk this summer when i do the complete engine bay with shiny stuff..big plans in the works...:hellyeah:

Ya I saw that media day on the forum... And ya for sure we will get together... I need toget back at that track and make some better runs. I'll send you a message when I get back in the U.S.

Yeah I'm super excited to get it in! As far as the corrosion, I scrubbed it off with baking soda and water. It look new again, I guess it was from the battery. I would like to move my battery to the trunk just to clean up the engine bay more but because I'm FWD I know I need all my weight up front. Thanks for the comment and good luck with your battery relocation!
