I was wondering how old head studs are removed, and how new ones are installed. What do you tighten them from? Is there a hex head in the inside of the bolt?

You probably don't have studs now, the factory uses bolts. Less assembly complication.

If you do have studs, the first try is a couple of locked nuts on the stud's threads. When that doesn't work, you try a stud remover -if there's room- or ViseGrips, or swearing and cussing and grunting and before you know it, it's out.

ARP studs have an Allen socket in the end.

And don't ever bump a thread, we'll probably get around to you.

You probably have a 10mm hex head (allen wrench) bolts. Get the craftsman one, all the other crap will break! You don't want that.

Mine took the alan socket as well. It was a pain in the butt getting them out, I had to take the cams out to get the the bolts better.

Yep, and make sure you use loctite on the studs! Or some other semi-permanent type thing. Then just torque the nuts down to 80-90lbs.. depending on your preference. (Mine's at 85)
