Hi Guys , Im a Newbie Im in the process of my engine build up. I have a 97 Eclipse GST with the stock 7 bolt motor. It came with bad turbo which shelled out and ruined my bearings and ate up my oil pump causing belt 2 jump.

Neways There was no damage done 2 the pistons and crank and the cylinders. I had motor hottanked, crank polished , new weisco rings put on the .40over weisco pistons and the eagle rods checked out and new clevite race bearins and mains. Neways It already had all this so i just freshened it all up since i had it apart

now idk what proper installation of the arp head bolts.... what do u coat the trheads with? how much torque on the stud part itself? and the torque spec on the nut after u put the head on?

The arp studs are supposed to come with a special "moly" based lubricant. It is extremely important you lube all the threads, and the surface of the nut where it will mates against the washer. Also, there are different torque specs for using the arp lube, or if you just use motor oil, I think the specs are a little higher.

When installing the studs, use a round wire brush to clean the threads they are going into first, then lube the stud and install it ONLY hand tight. Not sure why they say this, but they stress it in the directions. They also say if they are going to be permanent, loctite can be used, but they must be torqued before the loctite dries, which I would think to be nearly impossible.

Hey thanks Thekyguy11 for your post reply, I Have access 2 Medium strength blue loctite from work. I use loctite every day on Gomaco Pavers i build and Loctite will not dry until the air is taken away from it.. Sounds wierd , really doesnt make since but thas how loctite works. Also i will be sure 2 clean the threads off with wire brush.. Also when i took the head off and flipped it over i lost one of the washers and wasnt able find it back so i am short 1 washer? wonder if a hardened washer would be fine? I proly will just have 2 use motor oil as i dont know how i can get a hold of arp lube..
