Its making an awful noise, looks like one of the screws behind the pulley broke off or came loose and is hitting the pulley. I'd rather just get another one to be safe. But I'm down for a track day or honestly whatever anyone has in mind.

2G head is on the 6 bolt block. Everything has been fabricated, engine bay has been painted, brakes repaired, interior cleaned, door handles repaired - and now on to the fun and final stages - Southbend clutch, turbo bolted up, Engine dropped in, transmission installation, AFPR installed, and Evoscan setup. :)

Soon.

Anyone down in the Ft Smith or Van Buran area know if Roberts Auto Salvage has a nice stock of DSMs at the moment? I want to pick up a few odds and ends. Don't wanna make the drive if someone knows it's picked over.

Here's a good one - Anyone have a spare 95-96 engine harness?

Ok quick question for you guys, how many of you are running Link? I am debating purchasing Link versus other options which have came into the game since my last run in the DSM world but would like to play with ECMLink v3 Full before I make the leap. Anyone with it up in NWA?

Bobby is running link but he in central AR

Yea I'm still debating what route I want to go, when I left the DSM game last time Link or SAFC was basically the only reliable routes. Now there are many more options to debate over that I need to research before diving in. Tuning will be one of my first big purchases to give me time to practice with it with small mods before I just into the larger ones. My GST had a SAFC1 with a PocketLogger and I hated the Pocketlogger interface. The SAFC wasn't bad, especially with the advances that people have made with it but the pocket interface SUCKED.

Essentially depending on the year (in your case it appears to be a 96') you have a few options depending on if you want to reach out and purchase an EPROM Ecu if you don't already have one, or if you want to step up a few hundred bucks more and go stand alone. SAFCS and such are out of the question for me as they screw with ignition timing and are limited to 650 (660) CC injectors. ;)

Check the link for a quick break down. If you had a 98-99 ECU as I do I would suggest Evoscan. A fraction of the cost and more powerful. I am, however, a huge fan of link and have used it in several vehicles I've owned over the past 3 years.

My buddy wants to sell me his 91 talon awd for 700 bucks. said might have spun mains in the block. It has a legit evo3 16g on it and a brand new head also. But it might need trans work also cause it grinds a little going into 3rd gear.

Sound like a good deal to you guys

You could have came and picked mine up for 1000$ w/no tranny issues and just swapped heads ;). Hell I have a talon front and rear bumpers (even a gb front and rear).

That is an ok deal. If that's all that's wrong with it. I would go over it. Especially and very gently tug on wires that go into expensive sensors IE knock and CAS. (A 100$ sensor is expensive to me.) Does it have ABS?

A tranny drop n swap in a 1g is pretty easy. I have done it by my self. Well after you take your controll arms loose anyways.

Thanks for the feedback, I had read through your prior post earlier and it definitely helped to get things straightened out.

I have a few people locally that used Megasquirt alot on their 280z but again, I haven't done much with it myself either. The only experience I have had with tuning was on the SAFC for my GST. I really think that a stronger system is going to be needed for my goals such as link, or ecuflash.

I actually still have my old SAFC1 sitting in a box back at my parent's garage from a few years ago and wouldn't mind using it initially but need a good option for logging other than a palm.....

Yes we are running V3 lite, I love the ability to tune real time and see whats going on with the engine. Im still learning but I can say for most people V3 lite will be all you need.

We are able to log all normal engine functions. I also log boost and wideband air fuel ratio. Later I may add IAT sensor to log intake temps at the throttle body.

Logging on the laptop is nice, I would like to be able to log to a tablet. There are a few people thats doing it but as far as I know its custom fight now.

I have a EPROM ECU that is for sale at a good price if you decide to go that route.

Looking for a set of EVO wheels if anyone knows where a set is at.

he wants me to get it so he can get a teg and rub it in my other buddies face. but it sounds like he's going to hold onto the car for me unless i get this 1g down here thats forsale. i mean is yours forsale cause i like the ol 1g's better then the 2g's but i like the 1gb setup over a 1ga.

Yeah his is for sale for $1000. I know for sure he spent 900 just on the transmission alone. He also has all the parts for a 1gb switch( hood, lights ,bumpers front and rear). You should just trade him straight across for your VR-4. When I was buzzing through J-ville yesterday on my way home there was a sweeet 3000gt VR-4 on the interstate. Traffic was to bad to play with him but he got off at the air force base exit. Have you seen him around before. The car color was white.
