Strip everything, clean, fill, paint.

If I had pulled the entire engine in sure I would have. Maybe next winter during a big rebuild I will do that. I'd like to do a fuse box relocation a well and replace everything with a bulkhead connector like the LSX blocks use to the cab of trucks. I was gonna remove my air con while I had everything out but I'm gonna try replacing the valve pressure relief valve first to see if it solves the problem. If it is still messed up ill just pull the belt and remove it another time.

Where is the best place to pick up window weld? Gonna fill my driver side roll stop while it is out.

I enjoy the snips sitting on the valve cover. :p

Haha they work great for them pesky water lines :thumb:

I have actually been cleaning up the car as I wait for my next paycheck to a few more parts so I started hand cleaning everything. I even stripped, blasted, an painted all of the water and oil hard lines in the car with the Vht......I gotta get this back together before I start cleaning the inside of the block with a toothbrush since the pan is off....

Dang man, you're going all out. It'll look good atleast! I didn't think about vht'ing anything else, if I had everything out of the bay I'd go all out. I'm still debating on it actually. The more I think about it the more I want to do a wire tuck and remove un needed lines/everything haha.

It really cleans up the bay.

Move the fuse box down to the frame rail, turn the injector plugs down, tuck a wires, get rid of all the egr related components, and get a non cruise control throttle cable.

Alot of stuff getting done guys!

I manage to pull the headlights and front bumper off today... I'm gonna try and find someone with a b body talon and swap this body kit LOL....

Sadly, it's all I got done! LOL gonna put it in the backyard and build a lean to, so I won't be using table umbrellas to keep the sun off me like last summer... Didn't work out to well on windy days.

Talon is on the ground. All fluids are in, hoses clamped, and so on. :D Now I just need a battery.

So I last night and today I was seeing these sharp looking Scion FR-S running around and I spotted one in the parking lot at the promenade on Chenal. So I went to Landers Toyota / Scion on Col. Glen and test drove one for shits and giggles. Lets just say I was not impressed at all. 200hp boxter engine with auto/manual paddle shift... I had it in sport mode and vsrc sport mode . It felt like my gst fully stock had more get up in it. Maybe the manual transmission would have felt a little quicker than the one I drove. It handled great I will say but low roof and really limited visibility with a number of blind spots is a turn off for me. I also drove a 13 TC with a manual transmission and I had more fun in it than I did the FR-S . It was rated @ 180hp and all the salesmen thought I was crazy when I said the TC was more fun than the FR-S. I tacked out the FR-S at 7500 getting on the interstate and only hit about 75 on the on ramp before merging. The TC was just a hair slower @ about 72.

You should go to subie and get in the BRZ... Il give you a hint, it isn't a NA boxster anymore. ;) that us what separates the men from the boys. Haha. TCs are kinda starting to look a lil better... If you count leaning more towards a XB a better look.

The new focus on the other hand needs to be a 2 dr. Dies anyone else notice the new ford 500/fusion looking like a Aston Martin bastard child?

The BRZ and the FRS are the same car practically. I was looking @ tech specs and comparing and they have the same engine. Same 200 hp boxter N/A engine. They look they same except the BRZ doesn't have the aggressive bumper that the FRS has. The interior is designed exactly the same w/ the same seats. Same car but the base BRZ is starts at 25k while the base FRS has a starting tag @27k

So im looking to rebuild my engine but Im not finding an easy time locating a backup running engine while the others out so im asking my arkansas brethren for tips that wont break my budget too much.

Can usually locate one on the classifieds for a good price.

Unfortunately doc brown we don't have a time traveling DMC to unlock this 2015 beauty but what is available now are the exact same cars with different names on them.

Looking at $3000 but my jobs good so budget can always expand as needed.[/QUOTE]

That's not a bad budget. Luke just did his for around that much. Can do very reliable stock build and always add to it later..

Do you have any HP goals tat the moment?

Lets go ravens!

Anybody want a bb pte 6262 for a decent price? ###### have to change the hot side to suit your application

Id like to do a 2.3l stroker on the side and shoot for 400hp and lower than 500hp for now but i need the stocker to get the car on the road.

When it comes to strokers, there's my playing territory. You can actually pick up a full Eagle Rotating Assembly for around $1300-$1500. You're looking at about $200 for a block. $100-$200+ in machine work, $100 in gaskets, and about $125ish for the timing assembly. So all in all, about $2000 will net you a "brand new" 2.3 bottom end. This is simply factoring in that you go the Eagle Route.

Alternatively you can contact one of the most reliable sellers on these forums, Keri. Her and her Husband part high power DSMs out for a living. She almost always has a build stroker in good condition on hand for around $2000+.

Keep in mind, however, that you cannot rev out near as far as with a 2.0 and many people suffer from piston slap and/or wearing the skirts on the pistons required. This has been debated here and there but with previously running two different stokers (One built with Manley and one with JE) the one that I noticed difficulty in "slap" were the JE's on a cold start. In all truth, the car sounded like a small diesel when it idled.

The increased torque is always nice.

Yep ive done alot of reading on the 2.3l and since its great for dd thats why I want to go that route me and my fiancee have plans on going on a roadtrip for the honeymoon next year and I thought it would be great to fix up the car for it. So plans for the car arent too outrageous just want to do enough to enjoy the drive I know keiya had an engine for sale last year on craigslist I asked about but wasnt in the right job at the time so sorry that I never got back too you. And ill go ahead and talk to keri.

Though first step is that stock block I actually only need a short block to get it back on the road so just gotta locate a good running one i can throw on and plan to do a build blog for the car, just got a new great camera and just overly excited to to work on the car with my friend at his shop.

+1 for VTECTHIS(aka keri) I just bought a hallman es mbc from them and cant be happier with what I got. Great people and straight forward. I would recommend buying from them. Actually if they have anything else I need in the future I would go to their post first and see if they have it. A little pricy on some stuff but your getting a quality used product and its worth it not dealing with the shady back handed people that do sell crap.

I actually checked them out but noticed miller auto put up that 7 bolt up for sale and bought that so Ive got the stocker somewhat taken care of. Its just a long block with the timing components so now im trying to make a list of everything I either need new or replaced in the car.

So you have a complete 7 bolt longblock? Good stuff. What is your budget now that you have the key ingredient?

Mantic, just noticed that you are up in Bentonville, I'm down in Prairie Grove, just outside of Fayetteville. Will you be doing any AutoX in Bentonville this season?
