Are these pistons bad?

About two weeks ago I purchased these Mahle pistons from another forum member. Here is his post

This is what i got in the mail today. They are obviously not new, and are dented. My question is are they bad or are they useable? Im still in school and saved for weeks just to get these. Thanks guys

Claim it to paypal and paypal will send him an email about your refund. Then, he will say he needs his part back. Send it to him and as soon you get the tracking number send it to paypal. When the seller recives his part you will get refunded. Happened to me before and that's what happened. At least you have paypal involved. Only if your transaction was through paypal.

His request to get the parts back first is not unreasonable. If it were a vendor you bought a part from and you wanted a refund you would have to send it back to them first right?

Make the claim then send the parts back with tracking in the pay pal claim is the right move.

Yes I do have a Paypal claim, they have yet to review it. If it is through PayPal I will send the part. But this wasnt, it was through dsmtuners, after what happened unless its through PayPal I'm not trusting it.

Buy cheap expect cheap quality. There is ways to shop smart and get good prices but don't skimp on car parts internals. It gets expensive every car is expensive at one point or another. Lesson learned you pay for what u get. A few extra bucks i assume u could got a nice set. I think can get like some forged pistons new for around $400 if that is above your paycheck and u not making much power then stock is more then reliable for a good price. I see this to many times people buy shit not research it or see it fully before they buy it then they buy it and be like oh this is pos, I am not sure what u where expecting but I hope u and many learn from these mistakes no body is perfect.

Clip: OP can explain better but i believe be bought them marked as "new" from a wiseman here in the classifieds. So he did try to buy new. He did nothing wrong, it was the seller. Mislead him obviously. Shame

No way am Im trying to skimp on parts, the wiseman said new, so I expected new. But you are correct about doing more research,
I should have asked for pics or something, but then again I could have gotten fake pics. I just went through with it so quickly because of his wiseman status, and because of his perfect marketplace feedback.

Make your dispute a claim. Paypal wont respond until you upgrade the claim. If you already did update it, try posting more info like pictures of all the messages you have received, then if they still aren't responding give them a call, They will 99% likely give you the refund.

I would personally take them to a machine shop and have them checked out. Pictures might be hidding damages, and you dont want to take risky chances.

I agree with him. I would defiantly take them to a machine shop. Its better to get them checked out before you put them in and realize there is a problem. That's just more work for you.

If you want i can send you pictures cause that's plenty of proof right there for paypal to refund you, IT SAYS IN THE AD- NEW... NOT LIKE-NEW.

After thinking about it, i wouldn't be surprised if this loser installed something incorrectly and now wants to pawn the pistons off on someone who wouldn't notice. Complete scum imo.

Sounds sketchy to say the least. I would also not hesitate to buy something from a Wiseman because I've always thought they had the respect of the higher ups to be deemed as such. Hope you get your money back, really horrible situation.

I wasn't going to send the pistons back until Paypal verified that I would get my money back once I did. They just said that I cant get a refund. If I sent them to him I bet he would just keep the pistons and I wouldn't get my money back.

That doesn't sound right. They give a reason why a claim can not be entered or money is not refunded. whats the official reply letter from them say.

If you use paypal outside of EBAY for purchases, they only gaurantee that the item will get to you or you will be refunded. ( AKA lost in shipping = refund )

they WILL NOT refund for "not as described" type of transactions. If you bought pistons and he sent you a BRICK, you'd be SOL. They only refund if it was a purchase ON EBAY.

here is what you CAN do. Did the item cost over 250$? WAS THERE SIGNATURE DELIVERY?

if there is NOT signature delivery, claim you never got them, paypal rules state clearly that any item over 250$ must have signature delivery absolutely NO exceptions whatsoever.

Claiming you never got the item is NOT fraud because you DID NOT get what you purchased. the item you bought never came.

EVEN IF YOUR TRACKING SAYS "DELIVERED" BUT DOES NOT HAVE SIGNATURE CONFIRMATION, THE SELLER IS OUT OF LUCK AND YOU WILL BE REFUNDED.

If there was signature delivery, you're SOL unless he decides to be a nice guy and refund you.

claim you never recieved them, once you get refunded, send them back to him. paypal won't work with you about it and neither will this lame ass loser. There is no F*cking way those pistons were only "idled" they look like they've seen quite a few days down the track for quite a few seasons
