I'm trying to figure out what this port is for and I have no idea. I am hoping someone can identify what it is used for

Down by the right knee almost under the dash....at first I thought it was a obd port because some cars have them there.

That my friend is an old Pro-Lock... It's a simple starter wire interrupt that disables the starter solenoid connection between the key cylinder and the solenoid itself whenever the Pro-Lock 'key' is removed... back in the days when these things were commonly installed at the dealerships, the customer had the option to purchase the Pro-Lock 'key' that would go to the vehicle they were purchasing... If the customer declined to purchase it, the 'key' was removed and a permanent bypass key was installed in its place (just like the one in your picture)... It is nothing more than a smal PCB with 8 contacts on it with only 2 that will show continuity.

If I were you, I would trace the wires back to the main ignition harness and find the starter wire, where it was cut it half... reconnect it back together and remove the black box & the 'key' receiver... there should also be a single wire going to a chassis ground that comes out from the black box... remove it as well.

Its an ignition kill. Theres a card you slide in it and it allows you to start it. Used to remove them all the time when i would recondition auction cars for a dealership i worked for. Guessing it has 5 or 6 wires coming out of the back of it but only 2 are used one to one side of the starter wire and the other to the other side of the starter wire under the dash.

It's like a kill switch my buddy's 94 Altima had that on his car too...without the little key thing connected it won't start

Honestly have not even tried....I'm still waiting for parts to finish the car up. Everything has really been on hold. I'll probably pull it out this weekend or next
