I have an issue with only 2 and 3 firing, voltage looks good to the coils, swapped out the plug wires, checked all the wires from the coil to the dis-2, etc...

Have the coils been known to go bad at all on DSM's like on vw's? Or is there something else I am blatently missing, never worked on haltech.

Any help is appreciated. The car dyno'd at 440 whp before it sat for 6-9 months, it was started every two weeks just not driven. Then the prior owner changed the battery and now 1 and 4 won't fire, right before I bought it.

Hmm, funny how the 1 and 4 wont fire right after you bought the car. Seems like someone elses problem...but dont fear, dsms are a nice big problem :thumb:

All kidding aside, yes dsm coil packs have been known to go bad. You already checked the obvious....try pulling the plugs out, check the gap, and make sure theyre not fouled. Next see if you can swap out the transitor pack. Its on the intake manifold near the intake cam gear. Definatly seems like the coil pack for 4 and 1 is bad....have you checked the ecu? crack it open and inspect those caps, its a long shot...but you never know.

Good luck,

and welcome to DSMs :)

Yeah the kid I got it from is my friend, so I know it runs and was dyno tuned, seen the dyno etc...

I already checked the gap, its .028 for all of them, It also has a sheet metal intake manifold, so what is the part # (so I can look online for what the transistor pack looks like) or if you have a pic, I will try and find out where its relocated to (it can't be that far).

The ecu is Haltech, and its working fine, from what I can tell via the computer.

I got a new coil pack coming (well not new, but the junkyard is a great place to shop from my experience. LOL)

thanks for the reply, I will see what happens tuesday when I put the new coil on. I will also get some pics, its not in that bad of shape, but I didn't buy it for the looks, I bought it because its got all the major stuff done to it to go fast. I will worry about the looks crap later, I am more go than show, always have been.

The coil pack was bad its runs fine now, now I just have to fix the exhaust leaks, and its to E-Town.
