I am in need of some engine work badly. I have been talking to Mark D. from overbore.com. He states he does some of the best motor work on 4g63T. I have never heard of him before and was wondering if anybody has any experience with them? He even said he's got a block from SBR, JAM, and Polk to show how much better his work is. He is in upstate New York. Any input would be appreciated.
Thanks

I am normally all for the modern and high tech up to date technology and everything, but you should ask this guy about his background. I always say it's good to work with someone who knows your engine platform, but If the only thing he'sever worked on was a DSM... sometimes I have a hard time trusting guys like that the first time out. Older dudes with experience machining blocks who have a real feel and nack for such work tend to do a much better job. Not at all saying this guy doesn't cause I don't know him, just ask... it doesn't hurt. It shouldn't hurt either....

after hours of surfing these forums I decided to go with a SBR. I gave them a deposit this evening for a 2.3L long block. This should be a great foundation for some serious ponies. They estimate an eight week build time. Thats goona be a looooooong 8 weeks of no sleep.

8 weeks ain't really that bad. Some MOFO's out there think it's cool to say 4 and take 7 months! Won't name any names but I have personally experienced such poor treatment. SBR has an excellent REP, heard a lot of good things about them, and the thing I find especially great is they have there own machine shop and dyno facility. Now that's in house. And I think you'll find most "engine builders" out there No less about really BUILDING an engine then you might think and don't do there own machine work. Then again some do real crappy machine work. I don't feel you have to own your own hone center and boring bar to be an excellent engine builder but it certainly helps.
