Anyone ever get busted for having no cat??

Just wondering if anyone has ever gotten busted from the police for having no cat. If so how much was the fine??

I live in CA, so I don't take the chance of not having one on - don't feel like paying the outrageous fine (thousands of dollars) if I was to get caught.

I live in Indiana and we don't have to pass emitions. God bless this being the racing capital of the country. We are however going to use my car in class on the emitions tester just to se how bad i can get!

I live in CA and I have been running my car with no cat for about 2 years I just put it on when I had to get my car smogged. Im later on thinking of getting a high flow cat so when I go to the track I can just remove the cat and then put the test pipe on and for the streets the cat.

Note: BTW why in the heck would anybody want to go under there to check that anyhow? (Other than emissions testers)

i've heard of cops that are suppose to check that stuff. I think in some states some cops will check if you car it too low( with ruler!). these are the types of cops that wll catch you with no cat. If their a special unit or not im not sure of. I know on philly the general rule for cops is , hey dont bother us and we wont bother you.

In Mobile (Mow-beel) as long as you're not doin 70 in a 35 your ok. Oh yeah, they hate people who swerve all over the road too. Oh, yeah, I've heard of that "ruler" checking thing before too... just not around these parts. If you want to drop your car so low that it scrubs the ground and kicks out sparks you are more than welcome to do so. The cops know your ride wont last long anyhow and you'll soon be on the bus.

Cops around hear have nothing better to do, I've been pulled over so many times because my exhaust(stock) is too loud, swerving, and whatever other bs they can pull. I've had to file harrassment on them before. If you wanna risk it go for it, it really depends on the cops.

I've been very lucky not to have been checked when I was hood checked last. Anyway, im ripping the heatshields off my cat and having them welded on the test pipe. Dont wanna take any chances.

cat check...yes they look for it
emissions check...yep at inspection & some cops have little hand held ones they carry with them (####ers)
Exhaust sound...yep they ticket you for that too
tint check.....yep they carry a gauge they put on your window for that one too (and they don't let you clean you window first a friend got a ticket with factory tint)
Blackouts...ticket
driving with fogs for no reason.... seen that one too (blinding other drivers )
front license plate...yep it helps their radar guns and they ticket for it
swerving...hell yeah you get a ticket if you don't share your beer with them


Basically the cops here suck donkey balls.

Been pulled over and cop looked under the car. He was Nit-Picking as EVERY little thing so i figured he would say something about that but he didn't. Either way i have a highflow on there now. Works just fine and now i don't even have to worry.

Wow, where to start? Most cops here are so ignorant I can't even believe it. Speeding is the only thing I've heard of people getting tickited for.


1) ruler check-hah! I don't even know if they have a law for that here
2) cat check-I don't think they would get out of their car if the didn't have to, so probably not
3) Emmisions- Need to get it checked every three years, but I know a guy at the testing place.
4) Exhaust sound- If it isn't a Lambo or a GT3, the poe poes don't even notice
5) Tints- My bro has had 5% all the way around for a few years now and has had a few speeding tickets in between.....never had a cop mension the tints.
6) I guess they require front plates, but I think that is for the photo rader things, (also a joke.....don't know why they have them)


To sum it up, I love the law enforcement around here; I mean I'll see some middle aged guy smoking a jay walking down a regular sidewalk and no one but me even seems to notice stuff like that. Just don't walk your dog off the leash, or they'll have to send multiple units to keep things under control!

Funny thing is if you move like 60 miles away nobody gives a flying flip about anything. Harris county just went ape kaka about emissions to the point where they lowered the speed limit within 50 miles of harris county.

#$%! man! I'm moving to mississippi! I live in Jersey where anytime you go anywhere you see like 5 cops on the way. They are all bored and pull ppl over all the time over nothing. Its so painful to have a fast car and have to go the speed limit

How much over can you guys go over the speed limit without being pulled over? i usually think like 10, but then ill cruise by one radaring at like 20 over and he doesnt go after me(probably cuz he was facing the other way, and then he would have to turn around:laugh so i dunno what do you guys limit yourself to?
