anyone done a 1.8 to 2.0 coversion???

i have a 93 talon dl with the 1.8 sohc and i have a 2.0 turbo out of a 90 laser rs and was wondering what all i needed to change over to put that motor and tranny in mine? will i need to swap wiring harness and computer? another question will a 2.0 tranny bolt up on a 1.8??

the computer i know will need changed, i had problems with my computer (i have the 2.0) and a 1.8 computer will not work with that engine. some turbo/N.A. computers are interchangable though. transmission type doesnt make a difference i know, auto or manual they use the same one. i'm not sure if the year of it matters, if it has to be from a 1ga or 1gb to match the motor though, but i think as long as it comes from a car with that engine you should be okay. mine did, not sure how it works otherwise.

wiring i couldn't tell you, sorry. i know that some of the plugs will match up to the 2.0 sensors, but i cant say that all of them to because i'm just not sure.

none of the n/a and turbo ECU's are interchangable. Im pretty the trannys are way different since the clutch and flywheel is different. Search N/A to turbo also you'll "need" to do some wiring

he isnt turboing it he just wants to swap in a 4g63 into a 4g37 car and yes you can use the same wiring harness and no the ecu is different and you are also going to need a new six bolt flywheel and possibly a clutch

ok the tranmission will work just dont be doing alot of burnout cause the gears are quicker in a 1.8 than a 2.0 tranny and its a transmission thats for a 90hp motor not a 130 hp cause we shattered 3 doing burnouts but u will need a different wire harness and computer if its a turbo motor than u need a turbo wire harness and comp just dont git a 90 model harness and computer cause there is shit in that harness that is usless and its just comlicated and stupis so git a 91 to 94 turbo harness and comp but i would put a 2.0 tranny in it since its a turbo motor cause ## gonna tear that trans up

wether or not you turbo the engine you gonna have to change the wireing harness so you gonna have to pull the dash thats the on.y reason i havent done mine yet not found of pulling the dash yet

ok soooooooooo one says dont need wiring harness and other says im gonna wether i turbo or not..................i just wanna run a 2.0 non turbo and i gotta find another motor anyway cause the one main mount for the tranny is broke off this motor and i got all the turbo shit on ebay if anyone needs it ill take it off and sell on here...................looking for a good 2.0 if anyone knos where theres one in PA????

see the 1.8 carries a distributor where the 2.0 does not,the 2.0 carries cas instead of the distributor,so how you gonna wire it in who knows,i was thinking about the swarp myself but then i think i am gonna sell the 1.8 instead so good luck
