All I ever see are people talking about drag racing 60' 1/8 & 1/4, it sickens me :barf:
What about handling, Threshold breaking, turning, knocking over cones or trees for that matter? Who would rather see a car slide around a corner in a mad AWD drift than see it go forward. I just want to see how many of you out there are into other types of driving.

Autocross rocks. It is kind of hard getting my AWD tank with stock suspension and bad tires to hug those tight little corners. I would love to get some good suspension on my car.

heh heh You said drift. I don't think our cars are made to go around a corner like that. Besides, my 14 year old suspension and bushings will probably cry out in pain if I try to take a corner too quickly.

I like to exploit the only advantage that my car offers...TRACTION. Oh, and I don't like to hit curbs or trees either. Cones are okay.

You gota love gymhkana .Once a person has done it ,they soon become addicted.

I am one of those ppl , and have changed my setup to be competitive in the sport.
It sucks running a twelve second 1/4 mile time but get beat up nasty like in a corner by a lightly modded bubble back.

So the answer is yes their are a few of us whom have felt a g by trail braking in the entrance of the slalom.

I am fairly new to this sport and have since been studying it , it funny but it's a million times harder then drag racing , because you'r racing you'r self, the time and another guy doing the same course just at the other side of the lot.

Gymhkana (autocross) really emphisies total car balance ,from power,to suspension to response.

It's funny in drag you want to make as much power as possible but in autocross you want to have enough to give you a solid power band right through the gears. In most cases you dont get past second gear but when you do ,holy crap it gets scary.

When I say drifting I mean on dirt, pavement, snow, or ice. Before the whole drifting thing my friend and I used to go drifting all the time, we just did it on old backwoods roads. When you say it today I think every one thinks of a 600 hp supra sliding around on pavement, but to me it applies to getting your car sideways on any surface. In my origional post I was picturing a lancer sliding sideways on some back road spitting rocks at my head. :D

Thanx for the thumbs up on the car yoshimitsuspeed and igopoopy. I haven't had it out this year, been working on it though, but do plan on maybe running November at Buttonwillow. My tow'er ain't towing these days.

Greg Collier has a nice car on this site and has run it I think every month since March. He is currently, I believe 5 points out, from winning Super Unlimited in NASA So. Cal. chapter. When he runs in October at Buttonwillow, if he places at all on either the Sat. or Sunday race, he'll wrap it all up. If so he's offered to tow me to Buttonwillow in November.

Here is his Gallery. http://www.dsmtuners.com/gallery/showgallery.php?cat=500&ppuser=15378

His car looks good, it makes me want to go work on my car :thumb:

Yah....Greg's car is set up nicely, RRE JDM engine, John Shepherd Trany, John Mueller set up all the suspension, and he has a lot of goodies. It runs well consistantly now, but it didn't happen overnight and took him a lil while to get it to that point.

It would be nice to get my car set up for rally. Of course since I am just getting in to it most ralliests say I should get a cheap beater to build as my first car. I know they are right but my gsx would be so much more fun. I am going to my first rallycross on the third. I hope they have some bigger corners, it's way more fun when you can get up a little speed.

Yeah the worse the weather gets the worse I want to go driving. Dirt is good, mud is better slushy mud even better yet. Snow is awsome and rain can be pretty fun too. The only exception would probably be sheet ice, I can deal with it but won't usually go out of my way to play on it.
The best part is when the snow is so deep it blows over the hood. Just hope the force is with you and give it the gas. :D

i dont know about you guys, but i drive mine to work and back sometimes. usually thats enough.

i really like going to the drag strip and going in a straight line with my car. i am considering getting a 240sx for drifting though. at the track where i go to run my car they have a drift course set up and inbetween runs i like to watch them. it looks like a lot of fun! ive been known to get my car sideways once in a while, and when i do it is usually a lot of fun. it just seems like setting up your car for drift takes away a lot of the daily driver ability of it, so therefore i cant really do it. i mean, highway driving with crazy camber degrees seems like it would take quite a toll on your tires, so therefore i really cant afford to do that. would i like to? definately.

That's one reason I like drifting on dirt. You don't have to change your car to to it. It's also easier on the car.

yeah yeah, but then you have a tendancy to trash the outside of your car with flying rocks and such...

Your car is badass man! props to you.

what type of suspension and such are you running? that drop looks GREAT on your car..what exhaust are you running as well? i want to do suspension work on my car, but my exahaust hangs 2 inches from the ground.

Thanks. :) It's not all that really. ;)

I have Sprint Springs (modified the rears a little bit) + AGX's with Eibach eccentric bolts (F) + Taboo Toe/Camber (R). Trust F/U strut bar.
I plan to get the Suspension Techniques anti-roll bar for the back and eliminate the active rear toe link suspension + install polyurethane bushings blah..blah..blah..in the back during the winter. :thumb:

For exhaust, I have the 3" APEXi N-1 turbo back.
