Any DSM Mags out there?

Hmm, So whatever happened to DSM Mag? I though you guys were going to be the center of the DSM community??? I guess you can only push the publishing date back so many times. I was looking forward to your in depth articles from SuperGoat and MNGSX. What would I do with out them?

Well, I don't think you guys will be doing too much posting over at the DSM Mag Forums. Unless, you have an intrest in Choppers. http://forums.dsmmag.com/   Hahahahahah!

What it boiled down to was several factors.

First, the 2 major community DSM sites refused to support us, or help in any way. One of them went so far as to ban our staff, including myself. The reason? I posted this same thread over there.

Second, we could not raise the $5000 capital that was required for printing. Without even a proof done, we could not get any sponsors

Third, there was so much vendor infighting- i.e. one vendor refusing to advertise if another was featured, etc. That it became a pain in the ass to manage, and to suck up to people. It got old, fast.

Fourth, the staff itself was doing this on their own free time. We weren't getting paid for the hours we put in. Most of us have full time jobs, and a few even have families that need to be taken care of. Little time to do much else.

Fifth, we had 2 of the staff drop out at the get-go, which left more work on us, which we could barely handle before.

If you think it's so funny and great to put hours into a business venture only to see it fail, I feel bad for you. In fact, people like you make it easy to let it go, because with so many assinine DSMers, a lot of who are here, why should we bother? Go ahead, laugh it up, because it doesn't bother me at all.

As to the chopper forums, it's a hobby I've had for years. I bought the site, and decided to put it to use, so yes, it'll be busy there, once it's open.

I don't think a business failing is funny. But, what I do think is funny..... you expected people to pay money for your rag. When, mostly all the tech. info you need for DSMs can be found on vfaq.com, dsm.org, DSMTalk.com, NABR and on the DSM repair manual CD. I guess you guys weren’t the center of the DSM community after all. IMO you guys are doing nothing but, milking the DSM community and taking peoples money.

You even said it yourself... you think DSMers are assinine. :rolleyes:And yes, they would be assinine to buy your stupid rag. When they could get all the info they need on the net. It's people like you that bring the DSM community down. That's why I'm glad your stupid rag won't be printed. So, you won't be able to rip off any "assinine DSMers".

check out modified mag. its pretty good, and sometimes they do a turbo talon build up. thats every other issue it seems to be though, but its a good mag.

Thats because VW has made cool cars for 30 years, they didn't abandon their best car after 10 short years of production and decide "Hey why not make a Japanese version of the Grand Am?"

Well the legacy stops right there, the DSM is officially gone and nobody is going to make a magazine for a group of car guys who are A) Small B) Shrinking C) Already have huge resources at their fingertips.

We have over 21,000 members, 60,000 threads and almost 500,000 posts. ever check the member and post statistics on www.vwvortex.com? 107,814 users, 894,006 threads, 8,539,152 posts. Vortex's Loung (like our Hangout) has 100,000 more posts than our entire site does. They could put this entire site into 1 forum over there and not be outta place...

Thats why they have 6 magazines (more acctually) and we have none, it's a huge community. Ever been to Waterfest? Crazy huge show for only VW guys. Still DSM > VW. (I'm an ex VW guy too.)

actually.... i forgot who but someone did make a dsm magazine... i forgot who and what it was called but the guy posted about it months ago looking for subscriptions....

there was a group of guys who were trying to put out a DSM magazine.

I had a few convos with them and they said it is a super tough job to start a project like that. Money was always an issue and even a source of feature cars would have been an issue after a while.

they even went as far as to put up a message board for the magazine. Needless to say the magazine was never published and the board was changed to some motorcyle deal.

go figure

Well I kOo~ idea would be just to create an online one for *free* and see if it grows :). I would help with design "since I don't own an eclipse YET!" LOL
