Any DSM Mags out there?

i thought DSM was Diamond Star Motors..... as in all mistubishi cars anyways since the diamond star is the logo for mitsu.
"Mitsubishi" means "Thre Diamonds" :dsm: The Pentastar (pentagram, star) is the Chrysler logo: :laser: "Diamond Star" was the combination of Three Diamonds and Pentastar.

Whats the deal?
That's the part between ante and first raise.

Maybe if we all donated some money to the cause it would be possible.I would even pay $50 for a year subscription. It would be nice to have a strictly DSM magazine to read up on at work during my breaks.

not that i know of, but MODIFIED has had a project dsm build up going on. email them and ask which ones have the articles. its good stuff :thumb:

I think members here actually tried making a DSM mag, but it never actually pulled through because of how much money it would cost if I remember right.

Like someone said earlier, we have about 21k members.... a DSM mag would never meet the profit-potential of a Honda Mag (with its endless amount of tuners), a general import mag, or a VW one. The best bet would be a MitsuTuning magazine. :thumb:

We have a lot of information available online, true, but pretty much anything you find in any magazine can be found online. It's the efficiency and convenience of a magazine that make it a seller. It's an eclectic array of information combined into an amusing monthly source. I mean, magazines extend to venues where you wouldn't normally bring your computer (unless you have a wireless internet laptop) like the subway, doctor's office, car, school, anything. Reader involvement is another thing. At the start of this thread, I remember reading something about featuring "Readers' Rides" in a DSM mag. :)

That's all exciting, but this magazine would have to cater to a larger target group--Mitsu owners in general. Yes, it would cover 1g and 2g DSMs, but then also stretch to get the owners of the 3000GT, Galant VR-4, EVO. And, to be broader, even 3g owners and people who rice out their Monteros, Outlanders, Endeavors, Lancers, Mirages, Diamantes, Galants. News updates for the 4g Eclipse and other upcoming Mitsubishi cars. Maybe it could even cover other makes who share traits with Mitsubishis (like the Dodge Stealth, related to the 3000GT; of course, the Talon and the Laser related closely to the Eclipse, and then even maybe the Sebring and Avenger who share some basic traits with the Eclipse). This sort of reader base could send the profits of a well-compiled magazine through the roof, considering there is currently no Mitsubishi-specific Tuning magazine like Honda or VW have.

And yes, it's easy for someone like me to come out and say "Here's what we should have," but I'm willing to do my part, too. I don't have money to lay down, but I am an English and Political Science doublemajor in Prelaw, and I'd jump at a chance to edit/proofread/modify articles or even do layout (although this should be left to webmasters who have a vivid imagination they can translate to print resources). I wouldn't mind signing a petition or spreading the word (every little thing helps), even if it means posting to 3 or more forums and getting flamed for trying to spread the word about a good thing. :toobad:

An amateur who thinks he can handle this project isn't really what we need, either. What we need is a lot of people who know how to be persuasive to send letters to Mitsubishi and major magazine publishers to show how interested we would be in this sort of publication. Maybe even promissory notes for subscriptions for the first year, just to get the magazine up and going. Of course, I think that volunteers would be relied on heavily to put in their ideas for the first issue, let's say, but we should leave this in the hands of the pros. Some of you might object to including a lot of different Mitsubishi cars, but a DSM-only magazine project would be bypassed by any company who actually wants profits, considering that not even the DSM community is willing to extend 100% support. :toobad: In a Mitsu mag, we could expect maybe 15-20% of the material to be DSM-related, about 30% EVO, 10% to 3000GT and Galant VR-4's and the rest to whatever models people manage to mod and tune. The point is, we'd finally have a magazine with consistent DSM coverage (more than Modified, the current winner).

Who has opinions on this? Who's willing to write a letter to Mitsubishi and some publication companies?

I am. :dsm:

That was an excellent reply. Most of the info we need is online forget the mags, they all doing Evo's now so that is as close as it gonna get. Also look at this site in the begininng their a tuning guide also their one on most every dsm tuner site, but how many follow them? Everyone wants power but they don't follow the guide at all. Most people got different parts from different stages and their still in stage one? A mag would really be a waste of time, ask your self how many ways or times you gonna read about the 4g63? With Honda they use different motors B16a, B18C, H22, Hybrids, the list goes on. That's why they keep pooping up in mags. Our cars are not as universal as theirs. So once ya seen one hooked up 4g63 you almost seen them all. Look how we fight about what turbo your using, different opions all the time, but most peeps use the same basic mods.

It's for August of 2005, Issue # 032 (this is the first one I've ever seen). Now I know there is a SKANK on the cover with a Cheesy lookin' Nissan, but there were two decent articles on two different DSM's :thumb:
[gotta re-size those.]
