I will be in the market for one of these fairly soon.

If you have a 50 Trim that you use for DD, please post how many miles you have on it. And what turbo you have...... (brand, A/R etc..) and your satisfaction with it.

Your information is invaluable.

Thank You,

Have you done a search yet on the 50 trims?

Anyways, I had a PTE SCM5031e that I used for daily driving. It was a good turbo and put down good power. I would pick my GT3082r for street driving over that turbo though. Spool times are about the same, but a lot more power and a lot more fun.

I've heard some good things on the ball bearing 5031e so you might want to check into that as well. Infact I think theres a thread covering that turbo just a few days ago.

haha, yes I have done much research. I know I only have a few posts- and this topic is slightly vague, but Im on here everyday just like the rest of you doing my homework and research.

I have been looking into BB 50 trims especially. t3 flanged and externally gated.

My profile has not been updated since im going through an entire engine build, I'll fill that out asap also.

Forgot to mention I'll be running nothing but pump gas, the 30R also is catching my eye so it will be between the 2 for DD in the end, - thanks

Well with the GT3082r and all my mods I'm making 320awhp on a superflow dyno with a very conservative tune. I'm getting full boost before 5,000 rpm in 3rd gear, same with 2nd. The turbo really comes alive with the HKS 272/272 cams. Also remember I'm sitting at 5,700 feet in elevation, at sea level full boost came earlier even without the cams. So it's a pretty nice turbo. Once it hits full boost it doesnt drop off until I shift, and the powerband is very flat. Only complaints is its a little laggy compared to the 50 trim, but still fun nontheless.

I never owned a bb 50 trim so I can't give out much advise on that guy.

Edit: Hope these help, I don't know if you already saw these threads since you said you searched.

yup, ive been following the 1st one for a few days, and also read that second one, 5,000 for full boost might be a little much for my taste, but a smaller a/r will change that, i have about 6-7 months to do some super indepth comparative research. thanks.

Anyone else running a 50 trim or 30R on a 2.0L with 272's and 8:3:1 compression ?

Had a FP green for a little over a year. Great turbo, had no problems with it. Spoolup is just a bit slower than a 16G. Ran it on a 2G 2.0l/272 cams. Only sold it because I wanted a 10-sec full weight 2G.

Yeah, I'm running one on my bone stock 7-bolt. It's a Turbonetics 50-trim with a T3 .63 A/R turbine housing. I recently made 403 WHP with it. Ohh, and I'm still on the stock cams and intake manifold too.

It's a great street turbo. I'm seeing 23 psi by about 4K and 27 psi by about 4400 or 4500.

I've only had this set-up on the car for a few hundred miles, but my previous 50-trim was on for about 3K miles. I've never had a problem with either..... I would definitely recommend the 50-trim for a good street turbo.

Wow, amazing!

Congrats on the 403 WHP wooot! woot! It looks like the 30R will probably be a little much for what im looking for, the 50 trim looks like the route I will end up taking. I was thinking that a 50 might be too big at one point in the past and was originally gonna go 20G TDO6H, but since Im forged and got some headwork done- I think the 50 trim might be the action im looking for.

Im going to take a look in your profile for more details shortly, and I noticed your from MI, that's cool we need some more DSMer's that know a thing or 2 about love around here!!! :sneaky:

The reason I asked how many miles people have on them is because I just want a turbo that has withstood the test of longevity, but I know nothing lasts forever --just curious that's all.

Thanks for the replies all.

Well if its a 50 Trim you want, and price isn't that big, you could pick up the FP Green for the same price as a TD06H 20G...1200$. The Green seems to be the 50 Trim that stand above all others. I couldn't tell you first hand experience with these because Im going with a GT35R.

i think the PTE SCM5031E is one of the best values. There are god knows how many people on this board making well over 400whp on it and plenty of tuners have reviewed its performance. I highly recommend it for anyone looking for a DD 400whp setup.

I've got a PTE dual ball bearing 5031 here. I bought it about a year ago and have since put maybe 10-15k on it. I'm hitting 30psi by about 4k...when I had the stock 1g and Cyclone intake manifolds I was getting full boost about 300-400 RPM quicker. Its very streetable and when boost kicks in it throws you back.
