Any DSM Mags out there?

This site may earn a commission from merchant affiliate links, including eBay, Amazon, and others.

Where will we be able to buy it? Is it going to be on news stands like sport compact, super street, ect? Also could you post what type of articles or features are in it?

when the issue goes to print, we will open a subscription service through the website, as well as have issues delivered to vendors such as Pro shops and retail outlets.

As to when you'll see them in 7-11 next to SCC, I wouldn't count on it for a while, possibly more than a year, depending on how successful it is.

I can't give an ETA just yet. We had a setback recently that pushed printing back about 5 weeks. My best estimate would be to say that we'll be at the shootout with stacks of the magazine.

i'm curious of this also...will it be in PA by any chance?:thumb:

IT will be wherever you live. If you reside out of the U.S. the subscription fees may be higher.

The articles we'll have are no different than what you read in other magazines, except focused on Dodge/Mitsubishi Sport Compacts. I don't want to give too much away, but it will be a mix of show, tech, and humor :)

I don't know if you know or not, but I'm opening a shop with a partner here in East Hartford, CT. A large kick ass shop.

What do we have to do to carry the magazine?

Contact our Advertising Coordinator [email protected], we'll put you on a list to contact right before they go into print, so you'll have them in your shop right when they're mailed to subscribers.

I hope not too much show.

How much is it?

Right now yearly subscription rates will be around $30/year. I know it's high, but we're going on no additional funding right now, and need this to get started. This will cover shipping costs, just like any other magazine.

i hope it's more technical 4g63 stuff and less rice 19" chrome rims with pepboys exhaust.

The mag will be based on performance. Does this mean you'll never see a wing on a featured car? Not if it has timeslips to back it up. We're going to try and have a mix of what everyone wants. Some want 100 pages of straight tech info, numbers, and Dyno graphs. Others want to look at scantily-clad women leaning on cars. Some want cars that bounce (dunno why?)

What we will have is a reflection on what we see the community accepts. There is a heavy bias to appearence over performance in most of the other magazines, we won't be one of them.

That's not bad when you really think about it. $2.50 a magazine. At $5 a hit like the news stand it's $60 a year.

Since the first issue is nearing completion, I figured I'd like to answer any questions regarding the content or distribution. So, ask away :)

will the focus be generation specific or can we expect a balance between first and second gen cars. I have noticed that most main stream mags that have dsm articles tend to focus on second gen cars.

Really? I live like 10 minutes from East Hartford, good luck with that.

This along with advertisers should cover costs and hopefully allow us to do this full time (this way we can make a better quality mag with more time on our hands). It's not set in stone, but it 'll be in that general area.

In that case I'm in for a subscription. I really enjoy in-depth technical articles. I look forward to reading about your build-up of your project car, especially the stages of tuning regarding weight reduction, safety, and air/fuel/timing.

I do have a few questions/ideas... any plans for running different projects, such as street, 1/4 mile, and autox? How about general/preventive maintenance articles involving bodywork and engine? For us guys that have a DSM that is slushboxed, I hope you can maybe drop some info on torque converters and shift kits? Info on installing various gauges would be cool also. Maybe articles on swapping in preferred parts from each model year (like oil cooler, brakes, and power steering). Maybe even some info for the 3kgt and stealth guys.
