Any Benefit from having a P Trim Turbine Wheel?

Hello everyone,

Recently I purchased a Garrett 50 trim from a local Turbo Shop. I wanted something bolt on so they had a BEP turbine housing laying around that they mated up to the 50 trim. However, they mated it up with a P trim turbine wheel. Now, to my understanding on a 50 trim it is pretty much pointless since the compressor wheel cannot flow more or something like that. So more lag, not any more power. Can anybody chime in and clear this up for me? Thank you in advance.
 
Maybe if you had higher displacement or a ton of compression where the turbine side would need to flow a little more freely- otherwise a Stage 3 (T31) turbine is more than enough to support the 48lb/min a 50-trim can generate.

Believe it or not, Bullseye used to mate P-Trim turbines up to V-Trim compressor wheels which have roughly the same airflow as a 16G.
 
Thing is I never specified what turbine wheel I wanted since I assumed it came with a T31. Too late to return now. What would I need to put a T31 wheel? Just the housing and the wheel? I'm assuming you cannot put a T31 in that housing now right?

Would I actually experience power loss with this setup or just the added lag?
 
No power loss, just additional lag....unless you consider the loss of power in the RPMs where the turbo would be making boost and is not as a result of the added lag an official "loss".

You'd need a new T31 turbine, a turbine housing, and a rebalance to go back to the smaller wheel. Look to spend around $500 to do this the right way.

I think it's better off just getting a brand new one and not going through that hassle. I can probably get the re balance done for free but I'll need the wheel and the housing. Anybody got any idea how much those two things run?
