Normally I search until I get the definitive answers I need but the balancer belt broke on one car and now the clutch is dragging in the other and I'm pressed for time. Quick help would be appreciated so I can get up and running again asap.
Anyway, as we all know, since the balancer belt broke it snagged the timing belt and I was left with bent valves, but after tearin apart the engine I found the head of a ss valve inside of my #2 forged piston... made me wanna cry. Pulled the piston out and the cylinder wall is scored as well. My car is a 97 and I ordered a 95 block and a 91 head w/o cams not realizing its not exactly a simple bolt on process without first buying other stuff and a lil fabbing.
So I was wondering if there is anything I should worry about dropping my 2g cams in this 6bolt head and reselling it? Is there any differences in heads from different year model 2gs before I order one? I'm pretty sure I'll need a different auto tensioner for the 95 block when I install a new timing belt. I'll have the crankshaft out tomorrow which I dont think used the revised thrust bearings. If it did will it not work in the 95 block or can I just use the old style bearings? Is there anything else that's different that I should know about between a 97 and 95 block?
