Another adventure into WEIRD things happening - Coolant? in exhaust???

Let me explain a bit here. I seafoamed my car...put it in the oil, and used the nipple on the IM (the one the PCV is connected to) and sucked it up. Car smoked as usual, everything's good. Then it quit smoking (except for a little bit) so I went and drove it around. Got on it and a shit-ton of smoke poured out. White smoke. Bellowing out of the exhaust. It was SO THICK that it covered both lanes of the road and stretched for about 1/4 mile (entire length of the road). Got onto another street, was still blowing smoke...go down another street, still smoking, another street same thing. Finally I got all the smoke out. Boom, does this all the time, except it smoked more than usual today.

I changed my oil, no problem there. Took out the spark plugs and they were brownish/white (I think I may be running rich) and changed the plugs. AFTER I put the new plugs in (NGK BPR6ES gapped to .28) I started the car up, everything seemed fine. Revv'd it a couple times, went around the car and saw a small pool of liquid under the exhaust tip. Looked inside the tip and there was shit all in there. So I went to the engine bay, while looking around the side of the car, revv'd it and liquid shot out of the exhaust. It sprayed the ground (made a sideways V shape on the ground) and looked back and there was still liquid in there.

So I rev it a few more times, still shooting shit out of the exhaust. So I'm like EFF THIS, go drive it...made sure to step on it and shoot whatever was in there out. Came back, tip was bone dry. Let it idle 10 minutes, still dry.

The weird ass thing is it was DRY BEFORE I put the plugs in. When I put the new plugs in, started the car and let it idle, that is when I went around and noticed it being wet. This is all a 10 or 15 minute time frame.

I was smelling the exhaust and it didn't smell like coolant. Touched the pool of liquid on the ground and it didn't smell like coolant. Didn't smell like gas either. Sooo....question is, does anyone know what this could be? I'm really thinking coolant, even though it didn't smell like it. Car does NOT overheat. I had the fan off while driving for a good 10 minutes, boosting. Temp gauge didn't budge. Checked the coolant level and it was full! No clue wtf this was but it has me worried. Thoughts????

There are only 3 liquids that go in your engine for it to be: oil, coolant, and gas. Now coolant can go inside your engine in several ways but these are the most common, Blown headgasket, Coolant seals in turbo are going bad or are bad, if you have the oil cooler still that uses coolant to pass through it (so it's not the 90 oil cooler which is air) it could have been tightened to tight and crushed the inside lining so that oil and coolant are mixing but you would see coolant in your oil as well.

It is just condensation.. There's nothing to worry about.

DeadsEvolution, I have a FFFB, no oil cooler whatsoever. I got rid of that long time ago. It was not gas or oil. Didn't smell like coolant. There's no coolant in the oil or vice versa. All the coolant is still full in the system and it does not overheat (indicative of a blown hg)

blackbetty, is it really that normal for there to be that much condensation? This hasn't happened before....well when it was real cold out, there would be just a little bit of water coming from the tip when I had stock exhaust. But it wasn't cold out and yea...maybe it was an after effect of blowing all the carbon and gunk out of the motor from seafoaming it??

Just seafoamed my car and its doing the same thing...It sounds like it burnt off already so nothing to worry about.

Ya perhaps the Seafoam just needs to go away. If your coolant levels are the same than maybe it's nothing to worry about just wait for the rest to burn away and you'll be ok. No sweet smell is good and no blueish color good thing, so like they said maybe it's just the seafoam. Also I haven't seen condensation do that but I don't live in those kinds of areas so I don't know for sure

My A/C button is always pushed so the fan will stay on. I do not have an A/C belt (cut it) and havent had time to remove the A/C components yet. So no, wasnt on.

Seafoam has a petroleum odor (it is 100% petroleum) and what came out of the exhaust did not smell like Seafoam. I am just going to make the assumption that using the Seafoam caused maybe higher than normal exhaust temps or something, and with cooler air outside it made the "condensation" form. I am going to keep a close eye out for smoke or any type of liquid from the exhaust. Still a bit worried...better safe than sorry though.

when I warmed it up this morning, I saw tiny droplets forming inside the tip. It was 60 something degrees out, so I am assuming the cool temp of the tip and then hot exhaust running out of it made a bit of condensation. It was nothing like yesterday though. I drove it around and afterwards there was nothing at all. Still going to keep a close eye on it though, but I'm starting to think it was nothing (or a "fluke"...DSMs are crazy for these)

So I was leaving for work around 10:45ish yesterday morning. Noticed the "condensation" again. The exhaust is in the shade, sun hits the windshield. And it was maybe in the mid to upper 60s at the time. Here is what happened after I revv'd it, and a pic of the inside. Had to turn the flash on, you can't see the small pool of water that well but you can see it.

So exactley how much seafoam did you use and how much have you been driving your car since the seafoam was used?

Like i mentioned in my post, last week i ran 2 cans of seafoam (one can thru PCV and the other thru FPR hose), let it sit for an hour then ran it until most of the smoke was cleared out. Once i got back, i ran 1qt of dexron II followed by 1qt of water. I was puking out so much crap from my tailpipe it stained my driveway.

Long story short, nearly a week later i was still sputtering liquid from the tailpipe on occasion so i decided to disconnect my test pipe and let the remaining crap drain out (and there was still a decent amount). Perhaps you should give this a try to confirm the stuff still isnt pooling in your exhaust.

Also, i changed my O2 sensor just after the flush so perhaps you should check to see if your o2 got fried or is gunked up causing your car to run rich which could also explain your symptoms...

This is from this morning, just about 15 minutes ago. It was spitting black shit all over the asphalt (you can see it closest to the left side of the picture) and after revving it, it shot more out. It dried up on the asphalt...looks chalky like carbon, not oil. It was "water" mixed with whatever else and now this shit was coming out. After driving, it doesn't do it anymore though. WTF

And I used one can of Seafoam through the gas tank and this was before I even did the motor. After that, I put one can in the oil (like I always do), let it idle...drove about 10 miles. Came back. One can through the PCV line. Let it sit 15 minutes, came back...smoked like hell then stopped smoking. Ran it down the street and it was smoking up a goddamn storm. Ran it hard and normal down the streets for 10 minutes until all the smoke was clear. That was it.

well as long as your coolant and oil look good and the levels are good, i would take your cat/test pipe off like the other guy suggested. make sure there is nothing in the downpipe and then go out and get some miles on the car. give it a few days and see if it stops.

My car does this all the time, sprays a v of carbon water all over the garage. Nothing to worry about.

I was already running open downpipe for 9 months. I just had my cat and straight pipe welded on on the 4th of this month. I never encountered this with open dp. So I am assuming it's just the nature of the beast. Condensation or whatever
