alright i am new to the dsm world i come from the sbc world but i bought a dsm for a couple reasons gas, seem to be good cars and a lot of after market support... but here is my story .... so i bought a 91 laser with the 4g63t manual... bought it with the motor rebuilt but the motor was out of it and all the bolts were in a bucket.... so it was good puzzle... the car had sat for about 3 years,figured it all out got it running and did the initial break, ran it at 2k for 20 minutes. and it idled fine at about 1k and ran fine just seemed hesitant... did some more diagnosing and found out it was only firing on 2 and 3 cylinders and 1 and 4 didn't have spark.. found out my control module/power transistor was bad.... k now it runs on all four and at first it would idle high at about 2500 when cold then about 3k when warm... so i unhooked the negative battery cable in hopes to reset the computer and let it sit for a couple hours while i went off to do other stuff... and i cables accidentally touched each other but not while there was a complete circuit so it should not have shortened anything out... don't know if that matters hook it back up and not it surges from 2300-3k.... this car is pretty much stock except i did all the free mods that you guys suggest.. tested the isc tested good tested the tps and it barely out of spec... put a steath o scope on the injectors and it sounds like the injectors are cutting out and thats the only reason the it seems to surge, otherwise it would go steady like before at 3k, but if u hit the throttle a little bit it will hold steady... any ideas suggestions thanks

Idle surge can be caused by a lot of things look at VFAQ Site - Visual Frequently Answered Questions under Intake>Throttle body. Covers a lot of idle surge issues. your idling way to high and would suggest looking into adjusting the idle back to factory spec and then checking your timing. You can also search idle surge on here and find a multitude of postings on the subject.
