am i ready for 50trim?

well since im a noob the forum wont let me post antwhere else so i tought i might as well post here, mods move it if needed..

i have a 1990 gst it has wiseco pistons, eagle rods, acl race main and rod bearings, new crank, arp headstuds, cometic headgasket. the motor is being put together as we speak. i also have a wideband, evo 560cc injectors and safc. and as far as bolt ons im running a 3inch open dp and aftermarket 02housing i also have a fmic that hasnt been installed..

so my question is based on those mods, you think im ready to go to a 50trim turbo? right now i have a big 16g, but my friend offered me a pte 50trim on a evo 3 manifol for 300, the turbo is used but it dont smoke or have any play with it.. so should i jusmp on this or based on my mods ill have more power with the big 16g...the 16 g never seen past 15 psi, so now im planning on eiter gettin meth kit, and turning it up to 25psi or get dsmlink OR get the 50

what are alls opinion

also i know that pte has a bad rep, but my brother ran one with no issues for years and so have other friends, so goin with a pte its kinda like a 50/50 chance sooo idk
 
yeah im already looking to sell the 50trim and stay with the big 16g, im thinking of pushing 22-23psi on 93oct and meth on the safc while i save for dsmlink...im thinking i would like to upgrade later to the hta68 to remain a fast spool and still have top end LOL..so here is the new set up LOL let me know what yall think

those are the parts i have right now, does it sound like a legit set up for 22-23 psi on meth? around 300-320whp?? like i said eventually ill buy dsmlink throw the denso 720cc injectors i got and once i leard how to tune and buy cams, maybe MAYBE ill buy another 50trim and throw it on there.

Setup looks pretty good. Id throw a 2g mas on there with it though id bet you start overrunning the 1g at higher boost levels.
And it will make tuning a bit easier. I run 22 on 93pump with out meth. So with it youd definitely be doing great. I am pretty sure im right at my injectors limit but with meth i don't see any issues at all. My setup is pretty similar to yours too, I run higher compression 2g pistons with my 1g rods and my flywheel is stock but it was shaved.
 
yeah my bad , i do have a 2g maf....but im still on the fence , im might still use the 50trim, i wanna see the spool charateristics if i like it i keep it there if not, then ill swap over to the 16g, just to get it out of my system LOL
 
Im not sure but if im correct 50trims don't see full spool untill mid 4000rpm range. Thats what ive read but it could very well be wrong. If that is the case then that turbo won't be very useful without cams. Id just stick with the 16g it is a great turbo and it will allow you to get a feel for the car as well as allowing things to set properly as they wear in.
 
mid 4000....dang, i tought it sees full boost 3900-4000 rpm, if the spool is past 4k then i do not want to install it LOL

My PTE 50 trim isn't fully spooled till about 4300rpm, Thats at 22psi. I don't really notice the added lag and I upgraded to this from a 14b.
I dont think this turbo really wakes up till higher boost mine feels like it has alot more in it I just need to turn up the boost.
