OKAY, so i am now officially the guy that posts on here for someone else. Sorry in advance.

Friend of mine loved my talon so much that he decided to buy one of his own. Ran pretty crappy and its all oem. I did a boost leak test and found a leak in the SMIC. I have a SMIC from a 2G sitting around. Question is will the 2G smic work with the 1G setup. I know that the inlet/outlet ports are larger. Is the actual size different?

Any help and advise would be great...Thanks! :)

It also has different bolting locations, but you could make it work. The 1G SMIC are known for corroding where the upper pipe connects. You could have it cleaned and welded if you have access to that stuff

I had that happen to mine. Easiest fix is to pull it off, clean it up, be amazed at all the holes in the in/outlets. then mix a big batch of JB weld, and slop it on.

+1

Jb weld works wonders and atleast gets you by until you can fix it the right way.

Has a good point.. I notice that I am always putting money into my car when I should be saving it... but afterwards I forget about all that when I feel the turbo spool up and I go WHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!

:thumb:

Props though for taking it slow and learning about cars before you jump into a turbo car like I did and have to learn with a lot of blood, sweat, and tears.

A used OE SMIC would only cost you around $15. Why not just grab one from a partout ad and save yourself some headache?

in fact, i have a used OEM SMIC from my 1g i would let go for 15 + shipping. No cracks, ran fine, held pressure fine. took off to fit my front mount on the car. Pm if your interested

I live in PA and every stock intercooler i have pulled off these cars has the holes right where the pipe meets the hose.

+1 for the Jb ghetto weld. I have patched 3 of those cores not with not one issue. Best way to use it is if you can put it on the inside of the pipe and outside it wont break.

Okay, sounds good. I will try to repair it with the good'ol friend JB. Thanks for the input!

EDIT: Tried JB weld, and it WORKED! thanks alot guys!
