Am I doing ok on my times?

Hi all,
I've got a 97 GST and I seem to be running around 16.2xx pretty consistently on my best runs (except for what's posted here.) I know that my shits aren't very good yet also.
However, two days ago I took my intercooler off and cleaned it (it's seven years old and never been cleaned, it was dirty.) But it's all clean now and I did the free mods of taking the intercooler silencer off and cutting the BOV feedback tube down to size. I also got a K&N sandwich filter for the stock air box. Hopefully I'll see improvment from all of this in a couple of days. I've been working on my shifts too.
I was out at the track a couple of weeks ago and I met a guy from Arizona or somewhere around there and he told me that there was a little honey comb down in a solenoid or in a tube running of of a solenoid that seems to be right under the air filter box. Is this true? If so is it safe to remove it. He said that it would bring my boost presure up to Japenese standards. Well now that I've typed your ear off I'm finaly going to put what I originaly wrote this for. How are my times? I know it's not perfect but am I doing pretty good for a beginer? I know the honeycomb removal is something you do with 1G DSM. I don't belive you are to do that with a 2G.

What type of 60 fts are you pulling? Im guessing 2.5 or so.

In case you wanted it straight, those are terrible times. DSMs without turbo's are pulling those types of times. Do the free mods, work on your 60 ft, and you should be down to 15.5 or less.

I ran a 15.9 in my 1995 GS with just a gutted interior (everything) and a intake.

My 60' are around 2.5. Good guessing. How can I get those down? What RPM should I be launching at? Oh, and wheel hop is killer but I'm guessing everyone suffers from that. :thumbdown

You're running about a second slower than you should be. Practice your launching. Get a boost gauge and see what kind of boost your car is running.

hes refering to the BCS restrictor mod. it can be found here...

it will give you another PSI or 2 but your stock Blow off valve will prob just leak it out.
yes, boost gauge should be the first thing you do. the start with the free mods.

Well I ended up shaving about .3 - .6 sec of my time. I know it's still not perfect but it's a 7 year old car so I'm doing ok but it's still not perfect. I'll keep working.
