Just curious if their is any real difference in a SS exhaust VS an aluminum one besides one lasting longer than the other? I want to go with a full turbo back exhaust and so far I have the High Flow Cat and the muffler but need the mid pipe and downpipe bent and installed. What piping should I have done? This car is a summer car only so I am not worried about corrosion. Will the sound be any different depemnding on the piping used? Thanks!

It's aluminized steel, aluminum wouldn't hold up at all.

SS will last a very long time. My ATR has been through a couple winters and is fine, if you are planning on getting the last exhaust you will ever need then go with SS. If you're on a budget and not concerned about corrosion then aluminized steel exhaust should be no concern at all and you will get your money's worth.

hahahah I was walking to the bathroom and I was thinking...."why did I say Aluminum! its Aluminized! hahaah!"

Thanks alot! I will go with Aluminized then

I use VHT Flameproof Coatings on my DP and the coating has not come off yet after couple Glowing hot incedents. :thumb:

I live in AZ. there is hardly any rain here. It never has snowed here once. should i worry about it rusting? It never dips below 50 degrees here and thats on the coldest of nights.

I wouldnt worry man get aluminzed its cheaper

Are they still using plain road salt in your part of Michigan? It's about the only condition where a stainless exhaust _might_ be worth the money.

But do you really think you'll still be herding a DSM down the road ten years from now?

I have had an aluminized exhaust on for 3 years and they still use salt every year here. Missouri weather is horrid on cars as well. Up north you guys get snow and plenty of it, but it stays snow. Here it is all freezing rain and slush. The salty slush gets everywhere and will rust anything.

That being said, the only places mine has any rust on it is on the welds for the flanges.

Unfortunatly... they still use that damned salt.

For you, go witht he aluminized steel. You wont have to worry about corrosion or anything.

Now me... it'd be kinda dumb to go w/ aluminized because of all the salt they pour down on the roads here.

As far as the rusting is concerned, does it rust all the way through? Or just get some rust on the outside of the piping?
