Aluminum Bushing Additions to the Energy Suspension Kit

Picked up an Energy Suspension bushing kit for my Eagle Talon

But realized it didn't come with all the bushing we wanted so we made our own.

Shrinking them in liquid nitrogen before installing them.

"Warming up" after install.

Ride is pretty stiff, but we'll see how all the new parts help (hopefully) at the track this weekend.

Nice work and idea but have you checked for suspension binding or bending/breaking issues? Mitsubishi designed the rear suspension so all the arms move in three dimensions when the wheel moves up and down. I've been reading up on it quite a bit in preparation for my own bushing and heim joint setup. If you have the factory manual on CD check out the technical manual on 2g's and how the suspension was engineered. It is short but very good reading

That is not going to work with out some sort of bearing in there.
What do you think is going to happen when you torque those bolts down?
How are the arms going to pivot?

When you tighen the bolt it's going to clamp the crossmember down on the metal bushing you made. The head of the bolt and the nut are clamped down on then crossmember too. So how is the arm going to move?
On the OEM units the rubber actually deforms/twist/stretch to allow the arm to move up and down.
On the energy suspension units the center tube is a separate part so the poly can move around the bolt.

Prothane makes poly inserts for both your toe and lower lateral arm.

That was thought of but overlooked, we can easily throw some type of bearings in there.

on a track only car you might be able to get by with a spacer on both sides with a little wheel bearing grease sandwitched inbetween...

On the toe arm your going to want to make the bushing two pieces. It will make it much easier to install in to the cross member. Like the prothan unit uses. Also if you do stuff your slugs with bearings make sure the aluminum housing is ridged enough to handle the loads it will see. I'd use steel.
